Suggest me a dirt setup in its entirety. No super-expensive ($200 plus) pedals. The less money

I've been playing through an Acoustic 150.

I'm set for weird fuzz, but aside from that I'm looking for a dirt setup in its entirety. Looking for overdrive and a relatively controllable distortion fuzz setup that has plenty of character and can go from indy fuzzy sweater to more defined, but still fuzzy, doom & fuzzy metal sounds. Has to play well with a super-clean amp.

2x Rats.

Rats are a great suggestion. Also look at tube-based distortions like the Ibanez TK999HT or the Blackstar ones; i use a Blackstar with a JC120 and it's killer. That Ibanez sounds awesome through the JC as well. Stick to the high voltage ones.

If you want something easy to dial in, I'd vote the DOD Gunslinger. If you want something a little trickier, but with more options, I'd suggest looking at the DOD Boneshaker. Unless you're looking for a very specific set of controls or distortion characteristic, they can get you most places, and they shouldn't be hard to find second hand.

I'll second anything that can run at 18V. That sort of headroom is something glorious to behold... Well, I've liked it, anyway.

I would vote for something that's land a little more scooped than something you'd use for a hotter tube amp. I'd vote for the OCD personally

TAFM

I would probably pick the TAFM as the most diverse of the lot. Anything from a boost to sluggish midscooped glitch octaves. It's a beast.

With my rosac, I like the LAL lluna.

Stuff I've liked well on the beta lead:
Rat+LAL Angel Ring
Boss HM-3
Mini
DOD 250 RI but I gotta cut the lows and mids

Something else to look into:
Valhagen Blüe Monster

I also like to use the line/PA settings on old gear like the amdek delay and DOD 680 to add some grit.

Not trying to be that guy who suggests something out of your budget:

Dr. Scientist The Elements has been great for me. If Goroth chimes in he can reiterate. It just does so much and is capable of making the sounds you described. It's very pre-amp like and has bells and whistles to whet the gnarliest appetites.

I was also going to suggest a used the Elements. Such a great pedal and works well with any setup.

Acapulco Gold has been making me very happy lately as well. Has a nice fuzzstortion vibe and it's very dynamic. It's pretty much everything I liked about Big Muffs but better and distinctly not a Big Muff.

The GS is a great pedal. Sounds great in a solid state amp. The old Digitech Hardwire SC-2 Valve Distortion also works great. Of course, you can go for a Tech 21 Character Series pedal. The Oxford is great but can be hard to dial in. It has also been discontinued.
