Gnarliest pedal you can think of

What's the most utterly destructive, nasty sounding pedal you can think of? Fuzz, distortion, ring mod, etc... I'm looking for something to dominate my signal in sustaining parts.

That's definitely really up my alley.... I'll have to hunt one down. I also just remembered the Raptio exists and I really want to try one of those in conjunction with the ricochet.

audible disease seem to be the most extreme pedals I've ever heard

The Noise Reap Asstone (foldback distortion) can mangle the bejesus out of any signal that passes through it and sustains quite well, too. I don't see them for sale too often, but there are other foldback and crossover distortion effects out there like the Spencer Amps Subzombie and a few of the Source Audio distortion pedals.

A Bitcrusher may be another option worth trying. I use a Malekko Scrutator to mutilate overdriven and fuzzy signals and am generally satisfied with the results.

An analog upper octave effect based on the Ampeg Scrambler or Dan Armstrong Green Ringer placed after dirtboxes can incite aural madness without killing sustain.

There's also the Zvex Machine, which is a bit pricey, but can definitely bring the ugly.

My absolute favorite disgusting guitar sounds were produced by the Grinder effect on the Alesis Ineko. It sounds like a cross between an atom bomb exploding and someone vomiting broken glass. The waveform is even more extreme when distortion or fuzz is fed into it. I previously kept an Ineko in a true bypass loop and used it like a pedal. Alesis also made a rackmount version of the same processor called the Akira.

I've been considering a fuck for my drive again actually, the crackle will really help with getting a specific sound from our ep

crackle is crucial. i was using a mini, but got a fuck again and momentary switching crackle is more fun.

Most mangling pedals I've had were the Noise Swash and The Great Destroyer. Noise Swash especially will likely make your playing completely obliterated and unrecognizable

Great Destroyer is a really solid idea actually... I haven't tried a noise swash but that's definitely on my list now.

Gonna sell my Classic 400 and buy a bunch of shit to try and a smaller board than a PT-Jr. I'm trying to get down to like 5 pedals. Maybe 6.

Copilot FX Orbit sounds like angry robots fucking.

I've never owned it, but the Maplin Voice Vandal sounds pretty wild. circuitbenders.co.uk sells a clone board that I'd really like to try out.

My Test Pattern from Hell pretty much destroys whatever I put into it, and then some.

Gotta love a pedal that decays then comes back screaming for more after a dropout.

The ones that come to mind are Torn's Peaker and a Buzzz. Stack them, clean up whatever mess you made then record your noise.
