travel time samplers?

hurrrrrrm. on vacation with the grrL. having all the fun, butts fulls. but she sleeps about 2 to 3 times as much as i do, so i brought my Electribe Sampler and 3 Pocket Operators along for noise play when she's crashed out.
and mannnnnnn. i HATE how the ES2 does sampling. apparently after importing something and editing it and using it in a sequence and saving it where it SAYS WRITING then it's not actually saved unless you also exported it to your card? fuck that. so damn non intuitive. thank gubbles the cool angry yelling/prolatizing from a church a block away from where we're staying got captured on my phone before i tried to import it into the ES2. the loading all the toanz i love from Maschine or Battery and having a hardware drum machine with yummy sounds? cool. the workflow and getting it setup with all the stuff i want? ugh.
tl dr; ES2 is cool in some ways, frustrating as hell in others, mostly sampler related.
want something portable and fun that i can drop samples into. looking at the Akai MPX16SD, because only 2 hundy new and would work with being sequenced by the Beatstep Pro way better than the ES2 does. but dayum the OP-1 is so freaking beautiful. and i LOVE the PO's.
would cha'all grab the cheapie to tide you over? or put off some other purchases to wait and grab the OP-1?
I WANT EVERYTHING NOW DAMNIT.

Dude. You've mentioned the OP-1 in like every post for the past 3 weeks. Go get her.

but.... but EXPENSES. like. if it was 3 or 4 hundy? no problem. DIVE RIGHT IN. but i reallllllly want an O Coast. and after this, we're not traveling for at least 3 or 4 months. so it just makes more sense to grab a cheapie sampler like the Akai?
...... but fuck ME i want an OP.

So that's halfway there, then sell your Electribe and you're right up on it, and then save or sell a pedal boom.

lol. can't sell the Electibble, gift from The Wifey. don't really want to anyways? i dig a lot of it, and i feel like there willlll be an update or two that will help the workflow on it?
murrrr. all the pedz i'm okay with moving HAVEN'T. but jia. still. i dunno. can soon afford either the Akai cheapie and an O Coast, or the OP-1. DUNNO MAN.

murrrrr i still want a Beats at some point but..... i don't really like the tiny interface on the Volcas that much? lol. and the Sample does what? 12 seconds 1.4 hz sampling?

What do you want out of it?
Microgranny is small, easy, intuitive and so much fun, but no sequencing or melody sort of stuff. Perfect for travel fun but maybe not making actual songs and stuff on its own?

What about the Roland SP 404-SX? Is that a good one?

The SP's are glorious but I'm not sure they're exactly what Behnders is looking for here because as far as I know he'd have to use a computer to transfer samples, which it seems like he's looking to avoid?
Warning: these are pre-coffee thoughts from a fairly tired D.o.S. and I might be being stupid, as is my default at these times.
