Will somebody please tell me that I'm making a huge mistake in blowing $300 on a DBA Supersonic Fuzz Gun and then tell me another pedal that can do the same but is cheaper!!!!!

I haven't played the Supersonic Fuzz Gun, but there's gotta be an iLF pedal that sounds as awesome for less... unless it's some crazy joystick-controlled dual fuzz... oh, wait:

I doubt anyone will give you an honest opinion on DBA around here.

True... most of us are pretty hard on 'em. But honestly, there's so many builders producing quality stuff for less, I'm honestly confused about whether their basic fuzzes are worth it, dollar for dollar.

I'm still waiting to hear mine. I got one on ebay, but it came messed up, and I have been waiting months for DBA to respond to emails and/or return it repaired. A few people swear by the fuzz gun, which tempted me to try it out, but I definitely wouldn't pay full price for my first try with DBA. If the fuzz gun turns out good, making up for my long wait on a repair, then I might consider full price if I can get past bad service and the attitude (both hipster and "i did it first" bs). Speaking of I did it firsts, Vex is claiming he did a bantam box first.
If you must have a fuzz gun, wait for a good used deal, no more than $200, but you could still get one for less with patience. Alternatives, maybe some Devi or Fuzzhugger (others could give you better recommendations), but I know the Red Witch Fuzz God is close (although I think those are way too pricey for a simpler circuit done in smd).

I don't know much about the fuzz gun, but agree that you're probably making a mistake to pay full price for this (or any

) DBA stuff.
What exactly are you hoping it will do?

Buy it from a place with a good return policy and if you don't like the thing send it back. I have owned DBA before and I had no probs with the build, but I agree they do seem a little $$$ for what they are and do.

i've never spent more than $200 on a pedal so i cannot relate but i don't want to hate on boutique stuff either. if you need it. get it. if you want it. you probably will get it anyway no matter what is said to dissuade you to the contrary. & you will probably feel a brief sense of euphoria once you receive the Fuzz Gun--
i am going to say GET IT becuz, despite DBA popularity, i really don't seem them on a lot of boards. so you get that advantage; that is, of course, if you desire or seek that particular validation from having that advantage. then DO IT: spend spend spend BUY AMERICAN !!!

plus. i am not even gonna lie. from an aesthetic/design standpoint, i really do like how their pedals have that spraypainted/unpainted metal enclosures look. or just that minimal black design in general i like. being perfectly honest.
also. i have alwayz wondered this: if you play a show there do they hook people up w/ pedals b-stocks or prototypes or whatever. i have heard more rumours about them being douchebaggy moreso on the booking tip than the customer service tip.

The standard, which is what is being played in the video (also the picture above) is $255. Save yourself some money on the SSFG, and get this motha.

I don't think that the purchase is justified by that cost.
You can probably pick up between 2-4 other things for the same price.

And actually for around the same price you can get this:

Totally nutz! I know it can get the crazy sounds, but I wonder how usable the more conventional sounds would be.

Yeah, I'd probably just spend the money on a few devi or fh pedals, especially since you can get them so cheap when you buy them used on here. DBA makes some very unique sounding fuzzes, but if you could buy three devi fuzzes, or two devi double fuzzes, or whatever combination of those configurations, you know, you'll be getting multiple pedals for the same price, all of which have their own very unique fuzz sounds that are going to be lightyears away from the sounds that most of your guitar player friends are using. When you can get a shoe gazer on this site for $130--hell, even if you buy it new for $195--I don't see any reason to spend $300 on ANY single fuzzbox. And if you want a badass-looking enclosure, you can make your own and just rehouse any pedal you buy pretty inexpensively. My $300 ilf buy/sell/trade page recommendations: $130 on a used wolf computer or shoegazer, $80 on the seppuku fuzz overleader that's on the page right now, then $80 more on a DF or Hype. Then you've still got 10 bucks to go buy some beer to drink while you rock out with your THREE new fuzz boxes.

oh, and if you *must* spend all that dough on one pedal, I fully endorse the WMD Geiger Counter.
