Anyone deal with these guys before?
The other guitarist in my band got the Primal Breath and, well, it showed up like this. I guess he (my friend) bought it because of the video.

That ad boasts a hell of a range considering its one knob. Can't watch video due to sleeping baby but the ad seems like snake oil.

Instead of doing anything normal (like using an electrolytic input cap, power protection, etc.) the whole thing is covered in 104 (.1uF) film? caps.
Two caps were connected in series (just a hair's width above the lug, I'm surprised it didn't short), presumably because the builder didn't own any .05uF caps.
Everything is a slight bounce from shorting (plus most of the wires weren't trimmed so there are bare wires just hanging out). The knob was pushed down so far that it made a groove in the paint. Paint's chipped with random flecks of coloured dust in it.
I've probably seen worse, to be honest, but it's definitely on the lower quality spectrum of pedals I've looked at.

Yeah, it's like two Electras in series without any clipping.
The first part uses a 2N5089 and the second uses a 2N2222.

Also, the reason I got a look at it is because the volume doesn't actually work.
It almost sounded like it was acting like a bias control when it was turned.

Yeah that looks like dogshit. Would definitely fire back about that one.

This could actually be kind of cool if it was intentional.
