Any of you use one of these? Thinking of getting a Fernandes or Sustainiac kit for my strat. How easy are they to install exactly? Is doing a battery compartment a massive pain? Are they worth it? Do they sound good? Is it like a less finicky ebow? Do the strings need a wiggle to get going? Are there any other brands than those two?
I'm done with pedals for the moment purely because I can't fit any more on my board and I don't want to swap any of them out currently. Sooooooooooo......... this is what has grabbed my GAS by the nutsack.

I have a sustainiac model b....its a blast but totally different from what you're talking about. I love it but don't use it near enough (don't want to attach it to my Mosrite).
Just for fun I would probably build or fine some tiny solid state amp (like lm386 or something) with a speaker jack and strap a transducer to my guitar.
The pickup based ones I don't imagine are too bad to install.

Yeah they look really fun, did consider but seem to be kind of collectors' pricey now? And maybe impractical for live. GASsing more over the pickup ones atm, but can't find any examples of anyone using one NOT trying to be Steve (I'm not your buddy, guy) Vai. OOOh does Robert Fripp use one? Intrigue.

Fripp does/did use one, if I remember rightly.

Whatever Idaho used, I need that!
Anyone know the details by any chance? I just know they used custom tenor offsets with lipstick(?) pickups:
