Title says it all. I was doing my usual reverb browsing when I stumbled across this: https://reverb.com/item/2514704-mr-blac ... t_yourself

Two serial number #1000 supermoons for 9k? Wot?

That person is clearly deranged or just trolling.

The complete lunacy of that price aside, I do see people getting geeky about serial numbers from time to time, and it always baffles me. I had a nice pedal up on Reverb recently—can't remember what exactly, but I had my usual, explicit NO TRADES note in the listing. Of course some dipshit offered anyway, this time asking if I wanted his Morgan fuzz that was worth approximately half of mine, but had a "low serial number."

Moral: people are the worst.

No way! But if people wanna try sell their pedals as somehow more valuable because of a number assigned to them then I guess that's their decision. Clearly some people also believe it / fall for it or see some sort of collectible element to it?
I got asked what the serial number inside my Boss DF-2 was and what colour the battery clip was a few weeks ago.... I almost replied saying I don't know or care, but I figured if that info made it more valuable for him then why not.

Not unless it was No.0001 of a beloved pedal, like if the first Algal Bloom popped up. Even then, I'd probably only give %25-30 more for it.

But I'm totally guilty of loving special edition stuff, like my Boris ECT. Granted, I didn't have a standard one already.

I completely understand special editions, limited colors etc and frequently get hooked by that sort of thing. A fucking number though? Nerp.

I mean, I **might** dish out an extra $10-20 if I could get serial number 420 if it were prominently displayed or etched on the faceplate like Fairfield does. But that's just for the lolz.

I'd pay like $5 more for number 1 if I loved the pedal. But honestly, no. Especially not for a random number like 1000. I would be thoroughly entertained for a minute if I ended up with #1000 of something. I'd probably be super proud if I was the builder.

Unrelated, does anyone else hate that reverb no longer shows sold listings? Just helps drive up prices when they hide what things were listed at when they actually sold.

Totes. It's becoming just as uninteresting as the bay.
