Any thoughts? Looking for thickness but also clarity. Probably gonna run it into Blackstar HT-DistX set at low gain. Or maybe after? Thanks!

Get a fuzz with a clean blend like the ss/bs TAFM

Yeah it sounds like you want something with a clean blend...or better yet an overdrive. Maybe even a compressor.

That was my thought, too. Mini, specifically.

Function Fx Clusterfuzz
Dr. Scientist Frazz Dazzlah can do it with the clean bend
Buffalo Fx M1 and Shoe Pedals 314 are muffs with a ton of clarity to go along with the thickness.

Yeah I've never owned a fuzz with anywhere near as much definition as my Algal Bloom. If there ever could be such thing as a 'transparent fuzz' that would be it - love how the bridge pickup on my Telecaster loses none of its twang...

I also recommend the Algal Bloom for note clarity. It's a pretty tweakable fuzz as well, pretty straight ahead.

For a more velcro texture, the Devi Ever US is a good option. A tone bender at low to medium gain is a good option. The TAFM has more of a superfuzz style texture to it, so if you want something thick and heavy put also has clarity that'd be a good fit.

Another Clusterfuzz vote. Can be dialed in for a ton of completely different sounds . Not in the way all 3 knob overdrives are called 'versatile', the Clusterfuzz is litereally like have three or four fuzz boxes in one package.

Thoughts on the Algal Bloom Vs Doom Bloom in this context? Thanks for all the suggestions everyone!

What the fuck is note retention and why would you want it?

Plus another for the Algal Bloom. A Buzzaround clone may also be worth trying.

At first I accidentally read "nut retention"

No idea what that would be either, but I'm still pretty sure it'd be fucking painful.
