heyyyyyyy pretty peoples.
soooooo..... i'm a git about MIDI. trying to use my Novation LaunchKey with my ES2. my setup is the LaunchKey over USB into my windows desktop, a NI Komplete Audio 6 as my USB audio interface
the LaunchKey works fine playing soft synths in Cubase or Live, but i can't get it to send to the Electibble. i'mmmmmmm probably doing it wrong.
LaunchKey into desktop over USB, going Out the MIDI out of the Komplete Audio 6 into the MIDI In on the Electribe, under Global Parameter have the Global MIDI Ch set to 01, MIDI Receive Filter set to Short + Program (tried Short only as well)..... do i need to grab a keyboard that has a real MIDI Out port? is there something i'm missing/doing stupid here?
thanks!
(gonna grab a DMC gHOST Controller to try to sort this with my live setup, would probably rather find a real MIDI port 49 keyboard instead of doing that at home too)

........ apparently i was reading the MIDI Filter complete back assward. i should have them turned off so they do not FILTER any MIDI MESSAGES. which. durpers. makes sense.
did that....... still nothing.
i dunno if i'm actually sending out through Cubase though. in the Device Setup it has my Komplete 6 Midi Out listed as Inactive. in Live i have the Track, Sync and Remote turned on for both the LaunchKey and the Komplete 6. both DAWs are showing MIDI input when i play the LaunchKey, and soft synts get triggered, but i get nothing into the Electribe.

Read it wrong...for something about USB midi to midi serialread the magic box!
Kenton makes a midi over USB host.
There are a few others, but that is by far the easiest solution .

The other ways cost more or are more difficult to work around.
Honestly, probably cheaper to just find an old m-audio midi controller.
USB class compliance is also important (some music gear has to be switched in their default mode...like roland).
A cheap midi sport $40 interface may help.
I've had a ton of problems with midi over USB devices...I just try to simplify everything down to midi serial ports.

In Live under the "instruments" tab there is one "External instrument". This allows you to bring the ES2 into Ableton and use it much like you would a software synthesiser. Under the "midi to" tab select the ES2, and then do the same under the "audio from" tab. Give that a go, see how you fare ay? Unless you were already using it, in that case idk man

Lord Galavantar - jia. the gHOST Controller is pretty similar. and i loooove Disaster Yarea Matty and his work. so gonna grab one for my shows board. and i like the Alesis Q49, so looking for one or two of those cheaper for shows or home if i canna get the LaunchKey to work. buuuuut would LIKE the LaunchKey for home..... it does cool stuff with Live.
trying to ditch the laptop for shows though. MAN that thing makes me tense.
Evey OhOH - NICE. i will look for that after work. thaaaaat might be it. thanks!

might not be buuut in Live, did u arm the midi track going to your komplete midi out for record? and/or set the track monitor to auto or on?
i always get tripped on that.
have u tested the midi dins w/ other gear to make sure they are working correctly at all?
that would help you narrow it down to either the komplete/computer or the electribe itself.

yeah, i use Live with my laptop at shows, so. lol. i am VERY experienced with getting tripped up on the Arm Track.
yur. the MIDI cable works fine.
ALWAYS CHECK CABLES FIRST.

Do you have track, sync, and remote turned on in both the input and output sections?
If you remove the Launchkey from the equation -- can you send midi to the Electribe direct from Live?

yessuh. track, sync, remote turned on all the inputs and outputs.
tried that too, can't send direct from Live or Cubase.
i get the feeling nothing is going out the MIDI out on my Komplete 6? i tried unhooking that and just having the USB from the Electribe hooked up, didna work.

Can you select whatever channels the MIDI out on the interface is transmitting?
Not using your hardware/software stuffs, so...having to go general.
