So, I was contemplating uploading my gear list to the hoarder thread (I've decided not to do it, as my pedal list is short and constantly revolving [and primarily RMA], and my rest of gear list is somewhat obtuse), and I realized I cannot put my finger on a single item except digital recording interface and MPC that was built in this century.

Which, when I think about it, is somewhat insane. We've made a few leaps and bounds in terms of what functions are available, what would you recommend?

Keep in mind, the caveman is probably only going to be able to make fire and hunt for food, neither of which are enticingly lucrative in this 21st century refined mode of living we enjoy, so if you had a couple weekends worth of random busking money (make fire & eat shit while being half naked and dirty) what would you decide is the drool worthy audio gadget of modern times?

Let's also say the caveman's primary sound instrument is an oddly assembled smelly old thing that just emits a continuous belch until it noisily falls to pieces and needs rebuilding but he loves loves loves it.

For me, there are a bunch of things I drool over, but not one single thing that I think covers all the bases in some miraculously modern way. I really do wish it did exist, of course

I think something like the OP-1 starts to really head in the right direction. I wanna see the next iteration of that idea/object, though.

Something like this for sure. Whether it be Organelle, or Axoloti, or just MAX/PureData it seems like you like to fiddle enough that the reconfigurable nature would lend itself well to your clockwork tinkerbrain. Takes a little time to get the hang of connecting the modules, but I would also think that your logic would lend itself well to this?

I have an Organelle and have mentioned in another thread a while back that it's great, but it's definitely not easy to jump into PureData. Maybe I just haven't found the right tutorials, but the shit I've tried hasn't been good for my rather non-mathematical brain.

Shit, I think I've subconsciously stuck Pure Data into my blind spot, my knee jerk reaction is to say I'm allergic to screens in my creative space - but as time goes on that's eroding into an outright lie.

Yeah, the friendly neighbours to the north are making some really cool stuff, blips on the radar for sure. Dream Sequence and Organelle looks like a potential mind-fucker, eventually..
