I've been playing more bass and I think I'm going to be playing both Guitar and Bass a lot more. I may be getting a Pitchfactor anyway but I wanted to know if anyone plays both guitar and bass whether they think getting a Whammy V or the Bass Whammy Reissue - or the PF - is the better way to go to handle both G&B.

I think there's a reason why Digitech made separate Whammy pedals for guitar and bass, while there's only one Pitchfactor.

The Bass Whammy is supposedly better at tracking lower frequencies, but also has different harmonies available. It should sound perfectly on guitar, so long as you don't miss certain harmony options.

Pitchfactor should be perfect on everything.

Never used Bass or V Whammy, only IV and that was really bad at tracking everything below the low B on my baritone.
Do have a Pitchfactor, which I love, but I don't really use it much for what I would use a Whammy for.
The tracking is good, but not POG/Micro POG-good.
But I guess you could do anything you'd want the Whammy V do with the Pitchfactor. At least good enough.

But I don't know how it would track the bass, at least if you want to go lower.
So it would depend on what you want to use the Bass Whammy for?


But the PF is a killer tool, and you should get one anyway.

Bass Whammy is sick on both, Pitchfactor is better overall

PF doesn't do whammy as well as...whammies. POGs are the best at...POGing. But the PF is great for a shit ton of other stuff that no other pedal can do. You could seriously find use for all three (I've owned them all at the same time).

But I'd get a Bass Whammy and a PF if I had to pick just two, and a PF if I could only have one.

Shit I wish I had all three at once. I had a Whammy and a POG at the same time and I look back at those days with great fondness. Shit I would love another POG or Whammy.

Statement is true. I only have a PF right now because it can do "good enough" Pog and/or Whammy approximations. Having a sub and an upper octave sound which can be "Whammy'd" in different directions is a true thing of beauty. Don't even get me started on those arp delays. But the POG and Whammy do sound better for straight octave tones. PF can do an unlimited amount of effects though.

I got a Whammy V recently which I use on guitar, bass and bass VI. I find it tracks OK on bass, not perfectly but perfectly usable. It has plenty of modes, the whammy is great obviously, the new 'chords' setting does handle polyphony better than the old whammy, I was surprised how good it sounded. Detune mode is god ofc.

I'm sure the PF can do everything the whammy can do and a lot more with an exp pedal, but it looks a bit much for me. Whammy V was a great buy for the price and I have no problems using it on bass.

Yeah, one thing I really miss about the PF is the ability to shift two notes up or down simultaneously.

You can do it with the Flex-mode?
Just not with an exp-pedal.

You can for sure do it with an EXP pedal. Thats what I used.

I think Og meant 'not just' with an exp pedal. Maybe.

What about the HOG? Gets zero love here, probably because it is enormous, complicated and super expensive.

I've had the HOG a few times. It's got its strengths. The whammy was ok. I really liked the filter controlled via Exp pedal. The freeze-gliss and the organ stuff.

I wish Eventide could update/improve the tracking on the PF. It can do a Micro Pog octave up/down with dry signal but the tracking sucks for polyphony.

I honestly wouldn't mind trying a POG or HOG again they definitely look interesting, but I'd miss the arpeggiator, delay, and synth functions too much. The PF tracks octaves and power chords well, but anything else is too much.
