Any Strymon Ojai Users?

I need to upgrade my power supply and I was considering getting the Strymon Ojai. But in all of the pictures I see, it looks like you can only power 5 pedals at any time - like the multi-plug One-Spot or Cioks cables don't work with it or something? Seeing a lot of boards with 10 pedals and 2 Ojais.

So, does anyone have experience with this? Are people just going crazy with their power supply purchases so they can Instagram them? What's the deal?

The Ojai is quite the looker, but this is a good/in-depth review of the Truetone 1-Spot Pro CS12, which is around $179. It might not be as pretty, but it can power 12 pedals at once, all at normal or high voltages (season to taste), and maybe a whole lot more :poke: - I'll be all over it once my current brick dies a proper death (winter is coming). Likewise, if anyone has any other experiences w/ this one, please speak up!

I'm sure the truetone one is great but the ojai interests me specifically because of size.

I have an ojai, I try to keep my board at or below 5 pedals so it's perfect for me. Eventually I may upgrade to the Zuma if I ever want to expand but for now I'm content

So are the cables different than normal voodoo lab/true tone cables? Was there anything instructing you not to hook up a one-spot multi cable to one of the outlets?

I'd like to pick one up because of the size and output levels. I have a small set up now but all of the pedals on my "to add" list are high draw digital pedals. So if I could hook all the dirt/analog pedals up to one outlet with one of those 5-plug true tone cables, I'd be able to keep the other 4 Ojai outputs on others.

Does that make sense? I feel like my question isn't being conveyed well.

You basically want to know if you can run one of those One-Spot daisy chains with it like you can with a Voodoo or something similar, right?

Never used any voodoo lab or true tone products so I can't say, as for plugging in a one spot to one of the outlets there wasn't anything saying not to but it's not something I'd do. If you want I can take a picture of the manual for you?

Wait... why wouldn't you?

Daisy chain! I've been blanking on that phrase for the past 24 hours. But, yes.

Why not?

That's what I'm saying - in all the pictures I've seen of them, people have only hooked up 5 pedals. If they need power for more than 5 pedals, they've got, in about 75% of the pics I've seen, a separate Ojai. The other 25% have a separate power supply entirely. Hence the confusion as to why you can't just use a daisy chain on one of the outlets.

Not sure, I guess it just doesn't seem like something that would effectively work? Idk, I never really tried.

I always do that. It works fine. I don't see the point of putting another PSU under my board if all I need is a couple more outlets for, especially when one of these is a utility pedal such as tuner.

If it has 500 mA on each outlet, why wouldn't it be possible to run a daisy chain from basically every one of the five outs as long as your pedls don't draw more than 500 together?

I think those pictures of it only powering groups of five is either insanity on the user's side or a StrĂ¼mon ploy to sell more; not mentioning daisy chain capabilities.

I mean, yes, that's what I was thinking, too, until I saw so many pictures with multiple Ojai pedals and no daisy chains.

People can be anal about things, like keeping their power SEGREGATED. That kind of people might be the kind that shop for PSUs at Strymon.

Doesn't mean you have to.

Truetone offers a specific two slot daisy cable to power two pedals off one outlet on the pro.

I would just do it.
