there are just a bunch of different versions of it. i've heard some are way weaker than others.

Just get an EQD Palisades. That'd probably cover just about any variant you can think of.

I frequently think about getting a More Gain Amplification Tube Depressor. I've never played one, but a couple guitar players I really like bumped their tune steamers off their boards for Tube Depressors. Not much info online and I haven't played one... You should get one and tell me about it.

I use an Ibanez Distortion Charger only on the left hand amp, goes really well with a clean sound (w/ Accountant compressor) going to the other amp. AFAIK it's a souped up tubescreamer with a weird EQ section where you have to max the bass to get any semblance of bottom end and keep the treble and 'enhance' controls way down so it doesn't add too much hiss. But for my application, I do actually like how it thins out the sound and has that kinda dusty, scrambled mid-focus thing going on.

Other than that I've only ever tried a Soundtank version, which sounded weak and horrible. My buddy uses a TS808 at rehearsal sometimes, I think that's my favourite TS so far.

Wampler Paisley Drive is fucking killer as is the Palisades/Dunes. I'm not a huge fan of TS style pedals but those two are fantastic

What does that mean? Are you only looking for Ibanez branded pedals?

The Palisades is absolutely fantastic, seriously one of the most versatile distortions I've owned. The only con is pedalboard real state, but if you have the space then it's absolutely killer.

yes, actual ibanez tube screamers.

Why? What's wrong with tube screamer-ish pedals? As people stated, there're some really good ones not made by Ibanez.
