Media Player???

Hi. just recently bought a new computer, which my friend built from the ground up. I need a good media player, as the newest versions of real player (my previous preferred player) sucks dick, is constantly in big ass "theater" mode, sucks resources and makes everything run screwy. Windows Media Player always seems to play the playlists I make up out of order.
Any suggestions for free, bare-bones, media players? Is WinAmp still around?

+1 On VLC It's amazing and yes it's free, it'll play any type of file you throw at it, the only think it lacks is a good media library interface, I guess if you want that i'd just get Winamp to go with it, does the job.

I used Songbird until they did an update that screwed it up. Now I use AIMP.

I would suggest Winamp or Itunes, VERY simple.

Find a torrent for Media Player Classic. It extremely easy to use and comes with a TON of codecs so it'll play messed up files that other players can't without you having to get the converting software.

Highly recommend VLC, it really will play just about everything - mp3, wma, ogg, dvd - it will even play .iso files, so if you download a dvd rip or backup some movies, you can just play the image file in VLC. Class.

I recently bought a Sony Mp3 Player, model NWZ-S639. I LOVE the sound quality in this thing. It's amazing. Except for one problem: I use iTunes, so therefore I use the content transfer software that came with the Mp3 player....and it works fine, except that the artwork doesn't show up! What gives??

VLC and Media Player Classic. Make sure to get the plug-in packets. I also have The Core, but it was the only thing that would play a certain file type I had. Don't get it ;(

I really harbour a hate for I tunes... if this is personal preference, I don't know, but my personal preference is right in my opinion, it's utter bollocks as are I-Pods, there so horrificaly un user friendly (I got given one free, can you tell it's pissing me off at this moment in time?) God bless Creative Zen's... (Waits for a string of angry remarks about I-Pods and I-Tunes being Great

)

My Zen will let me use whatever program I damn well please if a program at all, I can just copy and paste... It also will let me use any format I please, rather than trying to make me convert all my .wav files...
Rant over... that many people will disagree with anyway.
