One year ago today, the Pixelator Fuzz V2 was released to the public. I'm celebrating it with "12-days of Pixelator Fuzz" giveaway. For the next 12 days, I will be sharing lots of fun facts about the pedal. There will be lots of prizes given out during these 12 days, including the Pixelator Fuzz V2 pedal.

How can I enter to win? Simple! Just share each photo on Instagram and Facebook with the hashtag #12daysofpixelatorfuzz for your chance to win. If you share 12 photos, that's 12 chances for you to win. We are on day 5 of the giveaway right now. The winners will be picked in two weeks. Let the celebration begin!

If there is one thing I have learned, it is that generally speaking, free products and services are not as good as paid products and services. Sure, there may be exceptions, and things may seem comparable on the surface, but when you really dig down and compare them you will see why that free product or service is free.

The above is why I'm eagerly anticipating the opening of Cafe Fellatio in Geneva.

Generally speaking, this is true. However, when talking pedals and gear, I will gladly take free and sort it out later any day of the week.

This makes no sense.

Actually it makes perfect sense. Think about it...a company that charges for their product or services is (ideally) making money. They are then able to dump this money back into their product/service to improve it over time. A free product or service typically can't compete with that at the same level/capacity because they don't have the resources to do so.

I am still enjoying my defect-free free P Bass (won in a contest) and germanium booster (again, won in a contest).

Will take free any day o' the week.

The latter hooked me up with Carl@Godbox, without whom I would not have the Test Pattern from Hell and other fun toys.

So free equals less good than not free?

So take for instance pedal builders on this forum. A ton of them have done giveaways. Hell Ryan from Dr. Scientist is doing one right now. They make amazing products that are worth every dime, but they still give back from time to time.

Did you win something shitty once? Is that where this is coming from? ;)

I've won some pretty cool fucking pedals being a member on this forum and I'll tell you this, they were all fucking amazing and I would have bought them regardless.

I do however think that if you're doing a giveaway on the forum here, you ought to do it in our giveaway section that never gets used. To me it's poor forum when little known builders try to post social media contests on this site without giving back to it. Plus social media is like stupid right? Haha. No but really.

So I see what you're saying, acknowledge and respect your opinion but kindly disagree. :) Unless I'm completely misunderstanding you.

Well your example of pedal builders doing giveaways is not really a good one because those are paid products that are just free in that instance because of the promotional giveaway.

This guy has a relatively new company (it seems), and he's trying to gain some traction with a giveaway. Trade one pedal for some publicity via shares/fbook/Instagram/whatever.

It's not like he's just giving away every pedal he makes. He's having a sweepstakes to get the ball rolling.

Bumpin' this motherfuckin' thread.
