I refuse to believe that the new album is real, despite the single posted.

The single definitely sounds more in line with Owen material than the earlier AF stuff but I guess that's to be expected. Still stoked to hear more!

& they're releasing it right as autumn should hit full swing, niceee.

I mean the best part was that 'md' was all "I listened to their record and it was ok... what do you want from me??"

Lol. I saw them live at the weekend (festival, in case it seems confusing), they were pretty decent. Don't have a clue if they played new material because I don't know any of their songs, but they were write nice to listen to.

Great, another "emo revival" record.

I could never get on board with American Football other than Never Meant, which has that nice poppy riff going on. I dunno if I'm just subconsciously shunning them though, from when I saw Owen back in 2005, and Mike Kinsella was a bit of a grumpy wanker. Refused to sign my mate's Cap'n Jazz 7" too. I think he only played about 5 songs, because he spent over half of his time slot tuning his guitar (every song is in a different tuning, and he takes one guitar. Use your loaf, MIke.) He doesn't even fill the tuning silence with good chat, because he's generally pretty miserable. Quite the polar opposite of his tour-partner, Bob Hanna, who is party-as-fuck. Did an impromptu cover of the Spice Girls, and was just generally totally cool.

I'm sure you're all richer for knowing this.

The single is Owen-ish. But that's okay, considering the Owen sound is a progression on American Football itself, just stripped back. I wonder if that's the interior from the debut's cover art.

@More_Divebombs, yeah, the Kinsellas are sortof dinks. Talented ones but dinks nonetheless.

His piece in Alternative Press advising every band in the magazine to break up so that the scene could start anew... that was real piece of work that, yes, I still do lowkey hold against him.
