overdrive you'd use and not be scared of losing

kinda goofy / paranoid, i know, but i try to think about how much it'd suck if someone stole my board at a show and i'd lose something that'd be tough to replace. something vintage, something rare, something w/ custom art or custom built for me...

i'm having a tough time choosing an overdrive w/ that. i don't wanna lose my fuck or mini that both have custom art. i don't wanna lose a dirge (even though i know skully could build it for me again). i don't wanna lose the sound shank i just picked up.

i dunno. just working on a new lineup and that's surprisingly one spot i'm having a tough time with.

maybe i should just save up and buy a stock ss/bs duplicate...

Black Forest now comes in a smaller enclosure.
With top mounted jacks.

All of the newer DOD offerings (Boneshaker, Looking Glass, Gunslinger) have been pretty sweet, and seem pretty affordable / easily repurchaseable.

I use a 250, and i like it. Wouldn't hurt if I lost it, it's like 60$ or something

Yeah the new 250 is so good for the price. My friend uses a joyo ultimate drive. I think he paid $20 for it.

My TCE Dark Matter is my favorite OD and they cost next to nothing.

Way Huge has a pretty wide range of dirt pedals that are well build and durable but at the same time not that stupdi expensive on the used market? :idk: Though maybe still not that much cheaper than your dirge or sound shank :s

I'd probably go with boss stuff if I were you. Indistructable, and the buffer never bother me personally :idk:

I'll second the dod suggestion btw, they've ben killing it with their dirt peds lately.

They're nothing outragiously special, but for straight od/dist ya cant really go wrong with a rat or ocd (clone), right?

Aside from my clusterfuzz, which is by far my most pricey and most boutique pedal, I actually only own dirt pedals that cost less than $100 or so. Fabtone, old maxon d&s (Might as well have been an ibanez 60s fuzz soundtank), fz-2, odb-3, hotcake...

I wouldn't use this as an overdrive, but it's worth buying just to try (you can flip if you don't like):

If you ike the fuck OD, get a mini or a fuck OD (stock) for your board. They are not very expensive.

I agree with Syl.

I gig with whatever I like. I just make sure I look after my shit - and if that means I don't get to rockstar around the place and get drunk and leave my gear wherever, so be it.

Also have used dual lock on my board so pedals are pretty much impossible to pry off.

As an addendum: that's not accusing anyone of not looking after their stuff - it's just how I approach my gear when playing out. When everything is packed up then I'll grab a beer and socialise.

Personally, I would never get a pedal I wouldn't use live out of fear of someone stealing it. I have insurance and I always keep an eye on my stuff. It would suck to lose something custom or rare, but I'm willing to risk it in order to play with the stuff I like/I'm familiar with/gets me the sounds I want.

Way Huge Red Llama & Green Rhino combo. Or the RI Camel Toe when it hits the street. :hobbes:
If I had to gig with my irreplaceables... I'd just hire a friend whose 1 job would be to keep an eye on my gear while I walk the room.

If you buy secondhand, the most you've lost from a stolen Boss OD is, like, £35-50
