Line 6 MM4/DL4 conversion

It's a bit cheeky to sign up here and push my own blog straight away, but I feel like people here might like it and I'm not selling anything. I have been writing up repairs at http://falseelectronics.blogspot.com for a little while, mostly to share info and partially to push myself to finish off more projects. They are mostly SMD pedals, as they are often cheaper when broken as a lot of people don't touch them.

A while ago I repaired a Line6 MM4 and converted it to a DL4. The mod is pretty simple, but I have yet to find a source of cheap compatible EEPROMs so that a DL4 donor IC isn't required. Eventually I would like to make a PCB to replace the PLCC socket and switch between different firmwares, using a cheaper and more available EEPROM.

I've never come across an AM4 or DM4, if anyone has the memory chips or dumps of them please get in touch :)

Tim! Welcome. FFS, were you using that poor old Line 6 as a doorstop?

Hiya Curtis. I thought about putting a wire-wheel to that case but I just couldn't do it. I installed soft-touch footswitches instead and use it as a DL4. I have another dead DL4 that has a near-new case and it's at the bottom of the repair pile.
