EAE Inverter Drive (shout out to gholas?).

So, I know handsome beard have been doing the etching for EAE lately and I saw that gholas had done one inverter drive in a sexy blackwash, basically I was just gonna pick his brain if he happens to catch this and ask him if he'd played it.
So, Chris, if you catch this let me know, yeah?

But for anyone else that may have played one, how do CMOS distortions stack up with other dirts?
I've never gotten the chance to play one and as this one is particularly midrangey I thought it'd do well partnered with that Dunn Redeemer for the Mehtalz.
Anyone got any experience with these?

That Next Distortion X that I like a lot is a CMOS based pedal.

So are Craig Anderton's Tube Sound Fuzz, Way Huge Red Llama and the E-H Hot Tubes.

They don't really sound like a tube amp distorting. :idk: They have their own sound. Some people really like it. :snax:

Cool I might check em out. :thumb:

Descriptions like, "totes tube amp distortions, brush" I could give two fucks about.
Ive read they behave differently, though, so I'm keen to check that out.
I just figured if it was a particularly mid focused box, it'd be great to go with a nice tight and scoopy 5150 sort of sound.
Or any scooped dirt, really.

I had on of the first run and john was nice enough to put all the trimmers on the outside for me. Its loud enough to get a good boost, medium gain with a bit of fuzz when maxed out. Its got a TON of lower mids which makes it kinda particular about being stacked. (sounded great driving my buzz) The filter is okay, it sounded the best all the way off with my Sheraton.

Yeah John makes super cool shit, I really wanna pick up a longsword if I can. I think Fuckyeaheffectspedals have an EAE demo that includes the inverter drive if you wanna hear more of it

Sorry if this is too old of a thread to bump. Today I realized that I'm sitting on a bunch of Google alerts and like half of them are from here. So sup guys, thanks for the love. I should post here more often instead of being an occasional lurker.

So on topic! The Inverter drive had its short run as a one-knobber, and it turned out to be a total sleeper. So I decided to revisit the design and move the controls to the outside. Going to be putting out a four-knob version in the next month or two I hope! Here's the proto...

Are shark tank threads still a thing? Maybe I'll start one of those.

Johnny boy! Defs hit up Tom about starting a Shark Tank, a few redundant ones got purged recently so there's room.

Thanks for jumping in man!
Definitely get a shark tank.
That way I can annoy about your builds. :poke:

Seriously, though :poke:

Particularly that amp you built. :poke:

I might be out for this run as I just went apeshit with my spendings but, let's face it, we all got problems around here.
That looks tight as hell.

Love the idea of these pedals even though I have never played them
The reverb/fuzz and longsword seem super interesting and fun

You, apparently, haven't been in chuckchuck-bumped thread yet.

Also, I approve of the shark tankage notion. :snax:

Nick from Dunwich got me on the solid core teflon game. Shit is tight and comes in all the fun colors.

I'm gonna do it! I like being annoyed! And good news for the amp... real actual #001 is getting built this summer for a friend of mine. It's basically the same design with some small refinements (vox style tone cut!) but rather than using a weber chassis/transformers, I went with some proper turret board and Dynaco repro iron. We can definitely chat about it :)

The Beholder is pretty much a belton brick verb pinned at 100% wet going into a stupidly hot transistor fuzz followed by a tilt EQ. Kind of like Eventide's mangledverb patch on 'roids. I have no idea if it will catch on but it's a sound I've had in my head for a long time.

Hah, well it's good to know I'm not the most egregious necro-bumper! Thanks for the kind words. Shark tank incoming I hope!

Sorry I missed the shout out, I don't get much time to browse this any more. John's got you though. I didnt get to play that one. The washout ones were just something I did for John to build some prototypes in. I just throw crap in acid.

But I do have his model Fet and a longsword. His pedals rule.
