OR15? Tiny Tiny terror? Something else?

Currently have a deluxe reverb reissue, love it but looking to also pick up a head:
+something lighter than the DRRI that I can take to practices and small/sketchier shows (there are cabinets at the prac space)
+something with more gain. I play kind of poppy punky shit so I don't need clean cleans but like dirty/overdriven cleans
+something that sounds different than the fender
+idealy costs around $300 but could be talked up to around $500
I was looking at the TT but can't find one to try. I tried the OR15 and thought it sounded good, a little fizzy on higher gain with low volume. Had the Micro terror and liked the sound but at band prac it could not get loud enough really, it's a small room and our drummer plays loud and the sound all just goes smush.
Should I be lookin at other stuff? Thanks!

Are you only looking at Orange?

the 20 watt Jet City amps sound like they would meet your criteria. i'm partial to the JCA20HV, personally.

I've played the JCA20 head and it didn't really do anything for me. Maybe the upgraded JCA20hV will tho, I'll check it out!

peavey vtm, JCM900, laney aor can all be had <$500. All do the pop punk thing fine.
Might also just be the speakers in the cab(s) you're using have a low spl. If you can, try the terror or 15 out of a standard marshall 1960 4x12. If its still too quiet, then you probably need to move up to a 50+ watter.

I've had the Tiny Terror and used it just like you want to. It was good, light and decently loud for what it was. For band volumes you're looking at more crunch than clean/crunch. Didn't like a lot of drive pedals though, they just sounded a bit wrong somehow.
I'm in the same boat again now, practice room amps suck and my Vox AC15 is too bulky to carry around. I've been looking at Laney GHs (quite common and cheap in the UK) and maybe Marshall DSL (again common and cheap as balls).

I like the OR15. But, it had too much gain for me.

Too lazy too look for it myself, but I remember watching a yt clip that compared a bunch of different orange amps, including the th30 if I'm not mistaking.
The tiny terror did NOT sound like the cheap chinese pos I thought it was. It held its own against the more pricey alternatives, including at least one vintage orange amp.
The aor/ peavey vtm/jcm suggestion makes sense too I guess, but those heads weight almost as luch -if not more- than a drri, and they sound best when they're in high gain territory...
So did you maybe try that tt through a 2x12 or 2x12 closed back cab with efficient speakers?

Thanks for all the awesome suggestions. I am having trouble finding a JCA20HV on the internet, there's one on reverb but it's around ~$450 with shipping. Idk if that's reasonable but it's a lot more than the JCA20 heads.
The jcm 900 et all do look a little bigger and (slightly) pricier than what I was hoping for.
Thanks for the tiny terror input, that is sounding like a good option. I don't really need to use drive pedals with it, was just thinking a boost to get that last few ounces of headroom out of it at times.
Anyone have any experience with hammertone amps? There's an 18 watt marshall head on reverb for around $425 with make an offer.. ptp, handwired, all those buzz words

Seriously see if you can find a crate power block. 150w and the overdrive sounds are pretty damn good.

Don't overlook the Orange CR120h! Just got one and I'm mightily impressed with how good it sounds. Don't let the fact that it's solid state scare you off. There's a reason the reviews are overwhelmingly positive and doesn't go for much less used than new.

I had the Jet City 20w combo, and a retubed did wonders for the sound. I imagine you'd have similar results with the head.

they seem to have gone out of production, which is too bad, because they were a definite step-up from the standard 20H.
if you keep an eye out for used ones, one will likely pop up. i think i paid $235 for mine about 6 months ago.

I got to play one for a little while and I really liked it! I thought the cleans, distortion, and reverb all sounded great. Looking for something a little more portable though.
