Gated oscillating fuzz for bass!

As much as a love my Infanem 141T fuzz, having to tune the oscillation with two knobs can be a pain in the ass live. I'd like to hear what else is our there/what you guys are using! :snax:

For reference, I used to have a 141G and a Fuzz-E-Cat on my board as well. The 141G had a bit too much mids for my taste. The Fuzz-E-Cat is awesome, and I still keep it around. Very beefy and synthy, I just happened to replace it with a Revolver because I like my sampling and glitch more than I needed two gated oscillating fuzzes on the board.

Hmmmm....Fuzzhugger? Fuzzhugger???

Or The Great Destroyer. Not sure if it's gated, but I'm pretty sure it can sound gated.

I had a great destroyer. It was a bitch to tune.

Which Fuzzhugger would you recommend?

... just get a noise gate?

I don't think I follow. Why would I want that? I don't think a noise gate can stop a stream of oscillation, and if it could, it would also stop my played notes. Also, why get another pedal on my board when I can just get a gated fuzz? :idk:

I don't know if these are gated or not, but I use and like the following on bass:

Fuzzhugger Absynth is nice on bass. I have the 5knob version, that let's you dial the oscillation.

EA Beast: kinda subtle oscillation that puts more meat on your tone-bone - at least the way I have it set.

Dirge Youth Chaos/Clock Noise: PLL & Noise Ensemble? Not sure what's exactly under the hood, but it's totally wicked and just :!!!:

Incinerator: :animal:

Idk that's always my response for 'gated' threads. I feel like a fuzz that's simultaneously gated and oscillating is a circle I can't square in my head. Like... why would you want the noise to stop?

So I can start it up again :excellent:

fuzzonaut! Cheers! I'll see if I can find some demos (good luck to me, knowing bass demos are few and far between)

Someone needs to build a gated, oscillating bass fuzz with built-in auto-tune? :whoa: :snax:

Frequency LSD may be worth looking into. Not sure if it will get exactly the sound you want but it might. Plus the gate is footawitchable. Its not crazy sub low bass fuzz but it sounds good on bass, the newer version has a toggle that allows more low end I believe.

Yea, the early version without the osc switch (always gated) is exactly what I was thinking. I think the new ones have more bass than the old ones too. Good call.

I'm also thinking mudlark, but that might be too hissy of oscillations and they kind of bloom from behind the signal. Some really nice gated subs in that pedal. RMA made another amazing beast.

Maybe something like the copilot pwm fuzz (trek) or caracol or one his other awesome creations?

Fat Fuzz Factory or 88: Super Oscillo Fuzz, in the case of the latter you can't really gate the oscillations but you can tune them, on some settings tune them off, with an expression pedal. Why not tune the oecillations with your volume knob like everyone else?

I think that was the one Eivind had. I didn't like it, to be honest. Same goes for the Copilot Trek and Caracol. :idk:

88: Super Oscillo Fuzz I could easily try as Eivind has that one as well :joy:

Fuzzonaut: thanks again! I'll check 'em out when I get home!

Regarding tuning via the volume knob: I spend quite some time with one hand working the fretboard and my other hand (picking hand) working the tabletop, so I'd rather not have to tune that way. I'd rather tune the pedal before the show/song. I already have enough shit to deal with live.
