Its time we had a talk about DEADSY

Honestly man these guys are one of those bands that were out at a really bad time for being what they were. To sum them up they are a creepy synth downtuned gaze pop band with a really strongly defined aesthetic sense. They throw out these incredible hooks and have this real gloomy melodic sense that gets me every time. Honestly I am of the opinion that they are what JESU should have been.

The unfortunate part is that they gained popularity during the NU metal heyday....despite not really having anything to do with it aside from social factors. They were never really able to shake that and i think it put a damper on it and contributed to their demise.

This song gets me every time....the synth just digs into you while the vocals have a total hypnotic quality that leaves me like a rat staring at a snake.

An early song that never made it to getting released...the default pic shows exactly why they aren't around anymore...

My favorite track...

Dude I haven't listened to these guys in years.
Gonna give it a burl later when I'm not at work.

I'm sure 98% of the Deadsy content on ILF is me and Ryan (aka Dr. Scientist) saying "yeah they were pretty rad actually" and Trace (of dominion Cabs) saying something similar.

Also I saw them live and their mix was really bad but I would still vouch for the records.

I think Orgy was the bridge between Deadsy and Nu-Metal. Around that time, I often heard the comparison that Deadsy was just Orgy, but not quite (which is unfair). If I had to compare them to anyone, it would probably be Type O. I was in grade 8-9 when Nu-Metal hit, which was just the right time for young naive me to be susceptible to it. But while I moved past the genre fairly quickly, Deadsy is one of the few bands that stuck with me from that time, because they were different enough to be their own thing. The only reason I don't listen to them much these days is because they have a fairly small catalog. which is a shame.

Yeah I mean... as Kaeth mentioned

Type O

just listen to Type O, dude :idk: Nothing against Deadsy but every time I hear them I just can't shake the feeling that Type O has been doing that for a long time before them

Type O has a couple too many Danzig-y flourishes, I think. Although I quite like them.

yeah, uh-huh, that works

I'm not saying it because "old music better", I'm saying it because Deadsy, to me, are a very obviously trying to do Type O. Yes, they do bring something new as well but the vocals are a dead giveaway to me :idk:

It's not as if I were talking about Cold Cave and said "You can literally listen to anything else of that synthpop/goth genre and it will most probably be better because they are such a blatant rip-off of everything." Deadsy are not a bad band. not putting them down. I just feel if you want that music, there's a more solid, genuine sounding choice with a bigger catalogue and shit :idk:
