Maybe I'm Google impaired, but anyone know of direct drop in replacement aluminium nuts?
43mm.
Or even a place that does custom ones?
It's time for my iceman to take its final form.

If you have a hacksaw, a rough file or two and some sandpaper you could probably make one in an hour or two from stock. Aluminum is really easy to make little parts with.

It took me about 2 hours to make this string tree from some aluminum stock just messing around with those tools (and vice).

I've made a few actually, but they were for Danelectro's and Fender's. Whats the thickness of the nut on that axe--5mm, 6mm...?

Uh, a big fuck yes to that video!
Although that may be overkill for my needs.
Would that cast a decent neck, though? :poke:

Dude that's nice.
I haven't worked with aluminium before so I wasn't sure if I'd have the tools for it, but that gives me some hope.

Off the top of my head is say 5mm but I'm not 100% sure.

:idk: I don't know enough about aluminum, but my goes would be you would want a specific type in bar form and carve/machine it.

Yeah I know that EGC lathe down from a bar.
Obviously using melted down coke cans would be out of the question.
I wonder if casting like that is prone to more irregularities and fractures etc.?

How about a bone nut? They are a little expensive but well worth it.

I actually saw someone post somewhere about making your own bone nuts out of butcher's leftovers and I gotta say it did seem appealing.
And cheap.
Annoyingly, slightly the wrong size.

Real men are stronger than brass.

I has titanium nuts of steel.
