I wish I knew more about rangemasters. The only treble boosters I've gassed for is a Dirge one and maybe the Bad Pixel one. Probably based on looks only though

I was looking into rangemasters the other day, and the tl;dr is that the Analogman Beano Boost is a pretty solid unit, but anything with a mid/full range switch should help you cop Sabbath tones.

This is all hearsay: I've never used any sort of RM.

I am certainly no connoisseur but I do like the creepy fingers sugar boost. Its pretty versatile and can be had for fairly cheap.

I've loved my dirge rm for a few years now. Seems like skully is building some pedals again, so if you ask real nice he might make you one.

I'm a current owner of a Analog.Man Beano Boost. I can attest it is the real deal, and claimed by Analog.Mike to be the most accurate reproduction on the market (if you ignore the mid/high/lo switch, and circuitry to make it quieter on a power supply). If exact NOS part numbers is important it may be a way to go. If not, then its easy enough to get a modernized one like the catalinbread naga viper for much less dinero, that behaves well, and sounds good. I like the Beano so much, that I'm building my own Catalinbread Sabbra Cadabra with their Naga Viper circuit removed, so I can hit the front end of its Laney simulator with my Beano instead.

I can confirm after getting my Catalinbread CB30, that Beano into CB30 sounds better (to me) than Catalinbread's Galileo pedal (cb30 + Naga Viper).

the SS/BS Sparkle Motion is really great, and surprisingly versatile.

the Catalinbread Naga Viper sounds killer, but it's definitely a higher gain riff machine (great for the Sabbath/Judas Priest type treble booster sounds).

i had a clone of the D*A*M Red Rooster for a while that was awesome. i don't know why i sold it...

Voerking raises an important point about gain.

In regards to the Beano Boost, I should have mentioned that in my opinion, it only sounds acceptable with gain way up past unity (12 o'clock or more on the pedal) into an amp that is well into its power tube distortion territory, or another medium to high gain pedal betwixt it and the amp. There's no bedroom level playin' with that puppy...so it may not be for you and your rig/set-up when factoring that in. If you play stadium rock to an audience of thousands, it stands alone, however.

If you're looking to use it for boosting lead solos a few dB while playing at bedroom levels into a clean amp, it doesn't sound that good to me, to be honest. When its set for just a touch of crunch, it can be a bit nasally and shrill.

I gotta saturate the circuit, and shake my house, but then it gives me goosebumps. Fetch me my faintin' couch.

Yeah, I've been meaning to hit Skully up for ages, but I think he's only doing personal builds right now?

Yeah I just put a bid on a Black Country Rangemaster on eBay now.
If that doesn't pan out, I'll definitely be looking into some other suggestions.
Thanks, duders!
