I feel like STP were always kind of a second tier band back in their day, but those first few records were still a huge part of my teenage years. They were definitely schlocky at times, but I'd put them a good bit above lots of other bands from that era.
I still love Interstate Love Song. Total jam.

No they are all in a progression of a style that was Not based on Tad, The Melvins, Nirvana, Mudhuney/Greenriver or the U-men so therefore snipelfritz is right, accept it, you choosed the dark side of the force like pre darth dude did in the prequels

STP originally formed in 1985, they did not put out an album until 92. Which was an amazing album that sounds NOTHING like any other grunge era band.
The Melvins is the only band that predates them by several years in formation. So they all hit the scene close to the same decade.
