RNC or RNLA?
simple as that. i'm looking at cheap compressors and i can't decide between the FMR Audio RNC or the RNLA. they're both stereo compressors. the RNC is supposed to be very transparent tonally, while the RNLA is supposed to be the opposite and add some coloration to the tone. i'm open to hearing some opinions especially if anyone has any hands on experience. i also plan on picking up a RNP as well. these units are so cheap, compact, and i usually hear nothing but good things about them. also interested in other non-500 series but 1U tall 1/2-1/3 sized rack unit comps and pres but i think FMR really takes the cake in affordability. but still, let me know if you do.

Re: RNC or RNLA?
I have both, along with like 20 other compressors. The RNC will color your sound too, it doesn't do bass well with fast attack times.
One of the best coloring compressors, believe it or not, is the Tapco by Mackie Squeez. Really good on drums.

I thought this thread was gonna be about Republicans.
Republican National Committee or Republican National Lawyers Association?
Glad that it's not. Good that tuj responded because I've got nothing.

Re: RNC or RNLA?
I haven't tried an RNLA, but I will say that I've owned an RNC for about ten years and have really enjoyed having it.
My only gripe was/is the fact that it's got unbalanced outs (same goes for the RNLA). Because of this, you could have to do a little fiddling to get things working with your setup. For the longest time I had an Apogee Ensemble FW and it was a bit of a hassle, but the insert setup changed on the new Ensemble TB and I don't have to worry about it anymore. Just something to think about, albeit totally navigable.

Re: RNC or RNLA?
I know that the FMR PBC-6A costs a little more but if you can in any way afford it that's the way to go. It's amazing! It's been my main compressor for years and I can't get it to sound bad on anything. It blew my RNC out of the water.
