This was meant for a bigger site but shit happened and it never got posted. So I just threw it up on my blog so it could at least get some exposure. It features some builders on here so I figured it would interest the lot of you. It's short and the writing is definitely geared towards a commercial context, but I hope you enjoy it regardless.

Cool! haha! I totally forgot about this! LOL! Great write up! I now don't use a laser and I believe Unicorn Yak does! hahahaha. So funny how that works. I found it liberating to free myself of the laser and go back to my roots. I just won't be etching up 100 cases at a time anymore.
Thanks again for the interview!

I really love the deep acid etching. I wish we saw more people doing that. I want my pedals to look like they've been dug out of the ground after a spaceship crashed.

The only problem with deep etching is that you get a lot of inconsistency. I've had folks want that, then I do it, and they aren't happy because it doesn't look crips. Well, for the acid to eat through properly, it takes more time, more time equals the chance of heating up the transfer and ruining it.
Really for deep etches, a CNC machine would be best. Look at Iron Ether's stuff. That shit looks shit! You could do a combo of CNC and acid.

I'm not sure what that means. LOL. It can look cool IMO. But people bitch about blemishes because well, people like to bitch.

sample conversation that my mind played out:

Nah it's more like "hey I thought this was going to be fucking perfect, I want a refund". Honestly I stopped etching because I was tired of the moaning of people expecting perfection from an imperfect process. I was going to start offering services again, but after thinking about it, I don't know if it's worth it. LOL

I quit offering services too. I realized that I just hate having restrictions on artwork and what I want to do. I like the stuff I etch to have a certain look and feel to it and if I can't have full control of design work then it just isn't fun for me. And if it isn't fun then it feels to much like real work. PLUS, got sick of people just requesting boring star wars shit all the time.
