It's not long enough to pass any judgement for me but if the last few Mastodon albums are any indicator, this will suck hard. Lol. How the mighty have fallen. I saw Maston with Converge right after Levithan came out and it was the best concert I've probably ever been too. Now I can't even stand to listen to them. Sigh.

I think I'm going to start using mastodon for profiling purposes. Like if an album or artist has anything to do with mastodon whatsoever I know I can definitely avoid it.

THAT'S THE UGLY TRUTH.
Crack the Skye marks their last great album for me, after that it's just an endless fall :idk:

Word I loved CtS wich is phenomenal but after that they stayed with the softer stuff while ditching the awesome stuff. It would have been awesome if they'd kept going with the weirder awesome long form stuff they started with on CtS but yeah, nothing worth listening to since then.

Jwar I would have loved to see htem with Converge after the release of Leviathan. God damn that's two great bands at a great time.

Oh dude! It was great! Converge played basically the whole Jane Doe album, which I believe came out around the same time? I could be wrong. I bought both their albums they had at the show.

That show was also crazy because the mosh pit was intense. I was shoving the shit out of people and staying to the outside, but some motherfucker punched my brother in the face. I body slammed (judo flipped him) and he got the piss beat out of him by like 5 security guards. It was crazy.

Highest energy show ever.

My hope for gone is gone is that sanders doesn't sing. Like Helmet, the undoing was the singing. That & cliche heavy metal songs. Still, looking forward to this supagroup. We shall see.

Pretty sure that the interview explicitly said Troy was singing... :idk: Maybe I just inferred that.

EDIT: here's the quote: "a balanced hybrid of their respective styles: the de-tuned guitar rumble of Van Leeuwen and Zarin, Hajjar's hi-hat-heavy post-hardcore groove and Sanders' doom-laden bellow."

I guess their '70 proggy vibe ended as soon as they recorded the album. Luckily at least they accomplished to do CTS.
