I recently picked up this telecaster used for a really great price. Says Fender USA Custom Shop, but I'm not an expert and something tells me that it might be made from various parts. Any help would be appreciated.

:idk: I'm no Fender expert.

Got more photos? Neck plate? Do you know what kind of wood the body's made of?

not sure what the wood is but it is HEAVY. The pick guard looks like it may be aftermarket. No S/N on the headstock or neck plate. I suppose I am going to have to take it apart to find out?

Yeah, I don't know.

This one looks similar to yours:

Obviously, I don't think your body's Alder.

This one's similar too, although with more modern design tuners:

They seem to have those Custom Shop neck plates.

Looks like a mahogany body… have you taken the neck off to see if the body is stamped?

My buddy who lurks and is a former Fender employee saw this and told me this: "yo that body may be legit, you'll have to take it apart to see for sure. But that neck is a fake or squier, you can tell because it has no walnut plug by the truss rod cavity - and all fender neck's have a walnut plug if they're legit"

Look at the truss rod on the second tele posted.

I don't know what it is, but the grain on that body is lovely.

the fretboard at the neck heel is also overhanging and sharply squared off which doesn't make sense on a 22 fret fender, so that neck is almost certainly fake.
the body looks awesome but i can see a weird little gap between the pickguard and control plate (it's usually completely flush), and it's strange that the 2 pieces of wood making it up don't seem to be very closely matched, fender custom shop stuff is usually very detailed in those aspects so i wouldn't hold out much hope for that either..

Email Fender customer support with the serial.

They'll tell you what the neck originally shipped on, at minimum.

Chances are bogus, there are so many CS fakes out there.

Dual string tree seems unusual for a CS as well, no?
