Agreed [although I'm not a lemonheads fan], all Misfits might suck, but Skulls is a good song, it's about important things.

The Misfits are Kiss, right? Supposed to be scary and "dangerous" in their time, but they're just cheesy and boring?

"first wave american hardcore scene" is a pretty high falutin' way of saying doo-wop. Microgenres are ridiculous, and the word "hardcore" is just fnord.

i have to say no.

Misfits is the reason i got into metal...my first tape at the age of 9 was a misfits tape...this is back in the 80's...

However, i didn't stick to hardcore, i moved from misfits to metallica pretty quickly, but they were my gateway band...so will always love them for that. But i'm in no way a Hardcore expert to make a valid judgement, just an emotional one.

misfits should have a corporate merger with kiss and become the kissfits.

Misfits is one of those bands whose logo & swag aesthetic is better than the music. Grateful Dead bears status.

i just checked the misfits wiki to see what their lineup looks like these days and holy shit its funnier than i thought:

Jerry Only on bass n vocals
his son Jerry Jr. on guitar
some dude from Murphy's Law on drums

Isn't that the ultimate fate of all "Scary" Music? I mean, Skinny Puppy and Nine Inch Nails are what i listen to when i'm in the mood for "pop" so either i'm representative of the conglomerate of all tastes, or i'm the outlier. I don't know.

I was into The Misfits when i was a teenager, but as i get older (and the internet makes things more and more accessible) punk/metal/whatever iconography becomes less and less of a signifier of "potential friend."

This, however, rules. Didn't Murphy's Law do the Cavity Creeps song? I saw them when i was a shithead drunk and the singer poured a bottle of something alcoholic all over me. Memories from that era are a blur.

If your show goes south with original songs and 60% of the crowd are punks..."Where Eagles Dare" is a good way to get out of the situation Blues Brothers "Rawhide" style.

"Bullet" (among many other songs) is so stupid, it is kind of great. Eh, Static Age was like that the whole way through. If you feel like the Ramones are too intellectual, Misfits are always there to help. It's fun every now and again (after not liking them for 20 years).
