Hi folks,

I guess this question has been asked numerous times before, but are there any clones or pedals that sound very much like the Cornish NG-2 or NG-3 fuzz??

I'm trying to get a sound similar to Lou Reed's on the drone track 'like a possum'..I've tried an NG-3 and can understand why Reed went nuts over it, it's an extremely quiet pedal that has a superb controllable feedback tone, it's ideal for 'controlled feedback' and droney massive chords, something Reed went for most of his career!

I am of the awareness there a Cornish G2 clones, how do they stack up? I'm not after that 'doomy' scooped/boofy tone that many of the fuzz/distortion pedals out there these days seem to cater to.

Well, SonicReducer, you have to consider this forum. I don't think many people here have been in the same room with a Cornish pedal, much less played one. I may be wrong about that.

It's got silicon and germanium but beyond that I feel like it's a tweaked fuzz face (or maybe a tone bender)? At least that was the wisdom the last time I looked into it.

I have no experience or valuable insight to offer about Cornish pedals or their clones. You picked a good track though, to hunt tone

Sounds like a 1.5 with more sustain, on par with a mk 2. A hybrid version is very possible, even likely... I would try a D*A*M Drag'N'Fly. They're pretty reasonable-tier in terms of price.

Well the REAL thing I am going for is the ability to go from grinding droning chords to controlled buzzy feedback, which is what the Cornish NG-3 does incredibly well, and is also a quiet pedal (the Cornish buffer)..Most pedals that do this just ejaculate gain and fuzz and tune in the Radio Free Europe or the ticking of yr watch!

Yeah, I'm not sure what a Cornish buffer has that other buffers don't to keep things quiet.
