I actually am interested about where the Allman Brothers-y flourishes (like in Isak) come from, but I don't think it'll merit a particularly interesting answer, nor do I find many musicians who are particularly interested in talking about songs they wrote a decade ago:

That ascending hook is straight Thin Lizzy as played by Dickey Betts (and I actually really like their band I'm just in a shit mood, sorry)

What's the publication/thrust of the piece?

I write for a server that deals with the heavier side of music. Mostly metalcore etc, but I pick my favourites and good things to write about/interview. I've interviewed Karnivool, And So I Watch You From Afar so far (HA) but this will be my first video interview. EVER.

(I don't really like the server but I try to make it better you know? anyway... Most of all I'm looking forward to seeing Baroness finally! And getting Purple on vinyl)

Strangely enough Fleshgod recently released their best mastered album ever. I mean, it actually sounds quite decent even compared to albums not in fleshgod's back catalogue.

Leading questions towards diverse influences are always good -- metal band doesn't listen to metal after all, more at 10.

Oh well that is a decent question. Should have probably said "avoid questions that are too technical" this is a music-fan server type-thing

when I do interviews I mainly ask about motivations, creative engines behind it, effects of shit... so I will be asking about the colours, the bus crash and line up changes a little... IDK i might be missing something that would be interested for a music fan. not a nerd - if that were the case, i'd be asking them about tones and pedals and shit and you know that

D.o.S - actually a legit question. I will ask about favourites and inspiring music for them, cheers

Also, there's a pretty tight knit scene in Savannah, from what I gather -- there's some overlap with Black Tusk, Kylesa, etc. -- so you can probably ask them a bit about what makes their particular scene such a special snowflake, and how their immediate peer group have helped them artistically + commercially (don't use that word, probs).

I got to see John perform his second ever solo show down here in NZ with Scott Kelly, playing some of the Yellow/Green material before its release. I actually preferred that stuff with just his voice and guitar, he was also endearingly nervous about playing by himself. I'm curious what he took from those experiences and if he'd want to do something as sparse or solo in the future, also do all these metal dudes just want to be Townes Van Zandt?

Maybe ask them about the Anselmo thing for the clickbait. Haha.
