Can anyone point me in the right direction for this? My PV supreme 160 is losing volume and distortion. I want to just start replacing parts, particularly to transistors in the poweramp (thats the heart of the ss poweramp, I think) but I want make sure this is the right way to go. Any SS repair dedicated forums out there?

Have you tried cleaning all the jacks? Specifically, pre-out/power-in situated at the rear of the amp.

Make sure your signal path is solid before chasing electronics, Peavey is usually fairly robust on that front.

If it IS electronic failure, the aforementioned pre/power jacks can isolate which half of the amp is causing it.

Cleaned the jacks, but I will get them another once over for sure. Effects loop jacks and PVs seem to always be an issue

It's the switch contacts "inside" the jack that are the weak point, hard to get at with the standard wire brush. Maybe plugging a short cable across that will take it out of the equation.

Dirty jacks and switches. All cleared up. I still want to beef up the power supply if possible

Does Peavey still service these or have the schematics?

Finding schems on old SS stuff is a pain in the ass - I dealt with one of the folks who had been at Sunn when it was still in Oregon in the 70s and had moved on to Fender, and couldn't get schems for half the stuff even dealing straight with the source.

They just didn't keep 'em.

A shame, we gutted that Solos II and put the speakers in old Peavey Deuce.

That's a good question, I think most of the schematics floating around these days come from old techs that upload for the sake of information (I love those people), though Peavey might support to the extent of maintaining a schematics library - I've never had to ask (I don't repair shit for a living though, so my experience is very limited).

Shame about the old Sunn! Almost ran into a similar situation with an old Acoustic, but some tech with better chops than I took it on as a challenge (seriously strange shit going on with that amp as I recall)

Peavey gave me a schemo for a obscure ass power amp a few years ago, so I'm sure they can hook it up with another.
I can do tube amps, throw new tubes in there, plate resistors, filter caps, bias network... but SS shit blows my mind. I just wanna make sure this fucker is with me for years to come.
