relay options: crude addition of preset to a pedal

In the past I used a 4pdt switch to swap between two Mode pots with a Boss DD-5. Three rows on the 4pdt switch took care of the actual pot lugs and the additional row was for the LEDs.

I want to do the same thing but also be able to switch between two different Level pots, so as to get 2 presets with both a different delay mode and different level. I'm not concerned about the time or feedback cause one preset will be the Hold mode, which does use the feedback or time controls.

I was thinking of using relays to achieve all this, but I'm not sure if it's the best method. I'd need like 4 relays and that might take up a bit of space. If I did use this, could I hook them all up to one momentary switch that would engage them all?

Is there anything else I can use or that is available that is a bunch of relays on a single chip or board?

You could try a mux http://playground.arduino.cc/Learning/4051

But that might complicate things more....they have some with multiple in /outs too...I just forget the ic numbers

Maybe one of these smaller boards wired through on the 4PDT?

You'd bypass the onboard 3PDT switch. OR you could get a couple of them and put them close together so you stomp once while hitting both switches.

This little board might be of interest, too:

Howevah...
I think I may have the perfect option for you...
If you go to the GPCB forum, there's a cat there who's wired up a 3PDT with two volume pots, and two gain pots:

3DPT lug #'s
1 4 7
2 5 8
3 6 9

The first three 3PDT lugs:
#1 goes direct to Vol A pole 2
#2 goes direct to the board's Vol 2
#3 goes to Vol B's #2

Volume Potentiometers in PARALLEL (voltage dividers)
Vol B's #1 and #3 are wired to Vol A's #1 and #3; Vol A's 1&3 then go to the PCB's 1&3

Back to the 3PDT lugs:
#4 goes to Gain pot A's #1; GP's #1 jumpered to GPA #2 pole
#5 goes to PCB's Gain #1, which is then jumpered to PCB's G2
#6 goes to Gain Pot B's #2, which is jumpered to #1

Gain Pots A & B are NOT parallel (variable resistors):
GP B's #3 pole wired to GP A's #3, which is in turn wired to PCB's #3

Last set of lugs on 3PDT:
#7 goes to LED 1 (whatever colour you want)
#8 goes to CLR
#9 goes to LED 2 (whatever colour you want)

I hope that all makes sense. If not, you could snoop around the GPCB forum for the graphic "ChannelSwitchingfig1"; you'd have to sign up though, and word of caution: that forum isn't as liberal about colourful language.

Swap out the vol/gain for whatever your needs are and take it a step further with a 4PDT for one more mod...

Cheers,

It does make sense, thanks. I'll poke around the pedal and see if that can/will work.
