Playlists for introducing someone to a band you love

It just so happened that the drummer in my band, who is quite the educated music listener, has never really listened to Iron Maiden. Which given my love for Iron Maiden I had to rectify by creating two playlists - one consisting of the "essentials" (at least in terms of "you should probably know this if you go see them live") and another consisting of "deeper cuts" (ie stuff that is good and might not turn up on every single live album).

For those interested, the essentials and the deeper cuts

It was fun making these playlists.

So if you want to make a playlist to help someone discover a band you dig post it/them here!

Note that laming out and saying "listen to the first three albums" or "everything/nothing is essential" is lame.

Great idea for a thread. Too much work for me right now, but I'll get to it!

Easy for me... usually the first album that got me into the band :)

I read that Harris has been playing that same bass all these years. Same bass, new paint job.

like getting my new beau into Doves was literally:

"This band never recorded a bad album. But start with Some Cities" because I started with Some Cities :idk:

and it worked

I've only really scratched the surface with Iron Maiden, so I'm looking forward to blasting those playlists tomorrow.

Here's a Descendents & ALL one I did a while ago. Both bands were the best, but other than Milo Goes to College which is stellar front-to-back, they were responsible for a fair bit of filler on nearly all of the other records. So here's all the best stuff in one place.

Either "In The Mouth Of The Desert" makes you want to listen to more Pavement or it doesn't.
