Hi there

I'm looking for a new fuzz to use side by side to my LSTR fuzz by black arts.
I'm searching for a heavy sounding fuzz,something good for a fu manchu/wo fat sound,or anyway for stoner/doom use,but with a different circuit than the LSTR (the LSTR is a russian muff based fuzz).
I've heard some Dirt Transmitter clips by EQD and it seems to sound really heavy and fat (it's a silicon fuzz face based pedal) and i've also listened to the JHS Firefly fuzz (a germanium tone bender clone),really cool but a little too expensive...
how does the DT works on a medium crunch channel?is it a good fuzz for stoner/doom uses?
any other suggestion is well accepted!

Maybe a super fuzz circuit could be cool? I've got the behringer variant of the FZ-2, and it rips. Instant electric wizard. My favorite fuzz is a Fuzzhugger Suneater, but it might not be what you seek in this particular instance. Pick it up anyways because it's not that expensive

If you want muffy and cheap, I say go with Infanem 141T. Can oscillate too. And the gate function is genius. At $99 you can't really beat it (twss?)

Maritime Analog Firing Line MkII is not really expensive.

Haven't used a Dirt Transmitter personally, but it would definitely sound different than your LSTR. A lot of people on nere would recommend staying away from JHS. I would.

I feel like a super fuzz circuit or a brassmaster circuit woud be good sounding for stoner/doom, and substantially different from a Muff sound for you. The three most common super fuzz circuits i hear about on here are the Smallsound/Bigsound Buzzz, the Lastgasp Art Laboratories Spoor Fuzz 46, and the Bos FZ-2. I recently acquired an Iron Ether Oxide that I really like; it has both a gated fuzz face circuit and a brassmaster circuit and you can blend between the two. They are a lot new, but you can get them for half the price used if you look around. it is made for bass, I believe, but sounds good in guitar demos I have heard.

Or go with the Doom Bloom.

Based on what you have and what you're looking for, I'd definitely go for some kind of Fuzz Face based circuit. Something SuperFuzz based could be a good choice too, depending on how you have the LSTR sounding. By no means the only good choice, but my preference is the Dunwich Cthulhu. It's a one knob boosted/high gain FF type pedal, but fairly flexible depending on what you're running into and what you're running into. Here's two clips I made that have pretty different sounds...

I typically use mine for one half of my guitar sound, along with something Muff based or a distortion on another channel, for heavy stoner/doom metal type tones. I also just used it the other night in drop D with my Strat to play along to Fu Manchu's "Eatin' Dust" and it nailed that sound pretty well.

I'll second the FZ-2 suggestion. I tried replacing mine with a several different boutique superfuzz type pedals, assuming a new pricey adaption of the superfuzz circuit should be even better than the already awesome cheap old boss fz-2.
None of em was a gnarly and menacing as the fz-2. It trades in a bit of the vintage fy-2 octave effect and sputter for a bit of gain. 'Gain' probably isn't the right term here, maybe it's the bassy undertones or the more subtle upper octave...
Never messed with a ss/bss buzzz btw, can't comment on that one.

As far as muffs go, my -way too extensive- list of clones and variations I bought and flipped ended with a '74 Maxon d&s. Gainy, and opposed to the majority of big muffs out there the tone control is useable all across the sweep. I'm just not that into the russian muff sound, I had a LSTR for a while, and I really prefer rams head and triangle era muffs.
Another one that stood out, but had too many controls that had little or no purpose to me: Musket.

And lastly: Mastotron. Not a muff as far as I know, or at least it doesn't sound like one. Versatile as shit, especially for all things doomy and heavy. Puts out a ridiculous amount of bass, which I personally really dig.

Honestly though, with the right amp, you can't go wrong with some run-of-the-mill bmp and an ocd or rat in front of it

What amp are you using btw?

i'm using an orange th30,but i'm on the way to get a rockerverb!at now with the LSTR running in the dirt channel i can get a lot of fuzziness and ultra heavy bass doom tone,but for the second fuzz that i'm looking for,i wanted some different...and the mastotron will be probabily a good choice must try it!

any Fuzz Master General by EQD or Fnord Fuzz by BAT owners out there? both seems to be heavy and thick doom/stoner machines..

the Fuzz Master General it's based on a super fuzz kinda pedal and i'm really diggin' it,but the fnord sounds amazing too (but with less versatility IMO)

That's what I'm thinking. I currently Rick a TAFM but it's not quite what you are wanting I dont think.

Fuzz master general is based on the ace tone fuzz master, which itself is a pretty straight clone of the super fuzz, with apparently the slightest of differences. I have fucked with building fuzz master circuits, they sound great. The selector between Si, Ge, and None seems really nice.

The super fuzz circuit was copied and ficked with ad nauseum, there is also the standard fuzz. There are also weirder synthier fuzzes. Frankly that we went through a doom fuzz without anyone mentioning mountainking seems shocking. Or just get a rat/treble boost/weird drive and put it after the muff.
