Find That Guitar!

Hey friends.

Looking for some options for a mate. I asked him what kind of guitar would be close to perfect for him and here's what I got:

Body type: Solid body

Neck: 25.5" scale, rosewood or ebony fingerboard, and big fat boat/baseball bat neck

Pickups: Currently has the Silvertone "Chris Isaak" model... loves the Gibson mini-humbuckers in it, doesn't like anything else about it

Knobs: Something that can control all pickups with one volume knob; whatever tone knobs

Tremolo: yes, preferred, Bigsby, whatever

Color and style don't necessarily matter for now.

There are probably a few obvious choices but the kicker is something close to the Gibson mini-humbuckers.

What do you think?

Thank you for the help!

A Telecaster w/ a Bigsby & minihumbuckers?

Think that describes the St. Vincent sig thing that just came out. 3 mini buckers, rosewood board (and neck), etc.

Budget would be helpful I suspect here.

Budget... I don't know... a bit over a grand would be ok if it's the right guitar.

That one above is pretty neat ^^^^^^^^^^ Where'd you find the pic?

Otherwise yeah, a Tele with mini-hums and Bigsby would be fine, probably. Didn't want to get too into custom stuff but that's probably going to have to be the case.

I don't know where gnomethrone grabbed that pic from, but you should be able to partscaster/Telemaster for under a grand.

Blacktop jag, gfs mini humbuckers, wilkinson roller bridge. Wrong scale length but you get the idea. You could also get one of these and drop in some minibuckers

Whoa, I go to sleep for a few hours and see my post posted here.

Pop, in total, like guitar + bigsby + pickups probably came out to like $600ish, but that's really cus guitar was bought around when those guitars were new. Could probably spend around new price if you were to buy the body + customneck separately, if you wanna go the butchered blacktop route.

I'd go for a modded tele tbh. Maybe see if you can get one with a swimming pool route, and then have someone install roller bridge + bigsby if you're not up to it yourself? Maybe even do one of those slotted three saddle tele bridges, but a cutdown one? Not sure where you'd find a fullsize that could accommodate minihums without a gap. :idk:

Build an isaakaster, I have less than a grand into this...
John 5 body $100
All parts neck $250
Neck pickup $200
Bridge pickup $150
Pickguard $50
Misc $100
Total $900

NOTE: Gibson minihums in the silvertone are different than the 70's mini hums, Novak can replicate the silvertone ones
