how to test new pedal - effective way

I bought a new blackout effectors twosome last week to replace my special twosome deluxe. I didn't need the order switching functionality and frankly I liked the graphics better on the simpler model
So I plug it in to my pedal chain and start playing around trying to find my old settings and the shit just wasn't right. I just could not get the same sounds. Thoughts were running through my mind. Is what pedal heads always talk about all like "some units sound different than others"? Maybe I just got a BAD twosome? Is this a bad transaction? Am I going to have to try to get a refund now? Fuck.
Then I realized: my wah was on.
