the term kind of covers most modern Japanese music to some extent, even some of Boris' sludgier rock stuff could technically be called J-Pop.
the only thing i categorize by is the vocal component/melody really, there's all sorts of experimental producers flooding into pop music over there, everywhere to some extent. everything is vague but that's cool.

nice stuff ST, thanks i'm definitely huge on the alt-idol thing as of late, anything mathy or noisy or gazey but with ridic catchy vocal melodies = i'd rather listen to stuff like that that's actually meant to be pop music than a lot of the watered down shit that gets passed off as math rock or shoegaze or whatever nowadays.
