Judder vs. Particle

I have a Particle, I was wondering if the Judder is completely different than the particle?
Anyone have both of these? What do you like most about each one or think its strengths are?

I've only had the particle and what I felt (which isn't really the way I feel with the judder) is that whatever you run through it it kinda gives the same sound. Just like a pog2 kinda. That was my only beef with it really. Except the reverse delay setting, that shit kicks ass. Buut since I don't know enough about the judder I won't comment on that, but it would be cool if anyone told me if they experience this feeling with the mwfx too

I have both on my board. They're nothing alike.

I don't know what to tell you. If you listen to demos of both you'll hear that they don't sound alike at all. They're two different concepts.

is the judder only momentary?

True. I can and have listened to clips of both.
But what I want is for you to get chummy and chatty with telling me how you use them. Pretty please?!?!
Which of them do you use for what?
What of them do you use for which scenario?
Which of the what of the who, why, where and how?
Pretty please?

Still kinda in the same ballpark of glitchiness and some random pitches jumpin around though? And the choppy sound could also be a meeting point between the two right?
I'm just assuming that some people want to maybe have one glitchy pedal on the board tops, so you as a very experienced glitcher could maybe run some pros/cons about both

No.
They really are nothing alike. I guess in some way you can kinda get the judder to do a sorta granular type response and they both do pitch shifting...but not really I the same ways. If you are looking for a granular delay, which is what the particle is, I highly suggest checking out the Gotharman's FX little deFormer instead because it's in an other galaxy as far as what you can do with it compared to the particle.
I look at the judder as an instrument more than a pedal, although there is quite the variety of ways to use it as an "effect" pedal you just stomp on/off or whatever. it really shines as a hands on unit that you manipulate.

I have both too. Particle is a delay (I use mine 99% for reverse granular delay) and my Judder is set to stutter individual notes or squacks on the guitar when I want to just go JDD JDD JDD for a few seconds. You can turn it on and use it to putter away in a timing of your choosing or set it to do sort of tremolo type stuff, I don't know. It makes a juddery sound, it's not really a delay, just a sound you plop on. The Particle is a delay pedal with loads of different ways to alter the delay signal, grainy and choppy, but doing a delay. It doesn't go JDD JDDIJ DJJDJD
Och, I dunno.

Also Judder is a delay too, and you can do sound on sound layering with it.

For those that have one, could you describe how you use the judder most of the time?
The particle kinda goes jddd jdddgjddd jdd when you set the chop freeze up high?

If you check out some of my demos I try to show as many different type responses as I can find. I dont know what to say, In use for example I play something on guitar and then twist knobs and flick switches to manipulate the sounds and create interesting textures/sounds/rhythms etc.

it's a glitchy delay looper that does unique things that no other pedal does, how you want to use it creatively is up to you but I find it VERY inspiring and I hardly ever use it the same way....although its pretty easy to get the same results if you're recording or etc. Is also pretty hard not to find new sounds/uses etc. just reading the ad copy from MWFX should give you an idea what to expect but really the ways it responds when you're turning knobs and changing settings is a whole different reality. Really great. Hope that's helpful.

Haha, I wasn't trying to be difficult, I just find if hard to compare pedals that I consider to be two different effects. In short I use the Particle to add texture and soundscapes that sits behind the mix, while the judder is more about destroying the foundation of the entire mix. That's not as to say that the Judder can't be subtle and musical, but I find it a better mangling companion than anything else. So I use the Particle to thicken up chordy sections and bring more life to less interesting sections of songs. It's all about textures and rythms for me, subtlety. I keep my Judder after my drones and my looper so I can basically ruin everything. To me, it requires more interaction than the Particle. Getting down and tweaking knobs and flipping toggles has never been more rewarding. Making space music in iRerror with Eivind I find it useful for simulating breaking through to another dimension or our spacecraft going up in flames.
9:00-11:50 is basically me ruining a freezed note with the Judder.
18:20-> is thickening up some bass chords with the Particle.

And this is me trying to explore the more musical side of the Judder (for the most part)
