Power supplies now'days

I'm a Voodoo Lab person. I love my PP2+ and have considered upgrading to a Mondo at some point, or maybe just buy an ISO5 to go with the PP2+.

Anyway, should I be more wooed than I am by all the emerging competitors that seem, to me, to be fancy Voodoo clones?

There Voodoo... there's CIOKS... there's Walrus... and now Strymon... and Pigtronix. All functional, all good build. I understand that CIOKS is widely considered to be "the best," but... what's the deal? Are these supplies really that different from one another? Is there one that really, honestly offers some functionality that the O.G., Voodoo Lab, does not...?

The Strymon ones do look nice with 500ma per outlet and the modular system is cool.

Basically, when I get a new power supply, should I stay the course or switch to another one?

I'd suggest You buy the cheapest thing You can get without too much interference and buy more fuzz with the money spared. But hey, that's coming from someone running the whole big board with one spots and a few transformers for the more picky/ power hungry digital fx.

If you have voodoo and you like voodoo, stick with voodoo. I also have the PP2 and am planning on getting a ISO 5 for the post board (I have a pre-dirty board and a post).

Yeah I think the PS thing is overblown
only one really interesting to me is the Truetone with the AC outs for things like a timebender

other than that they all pretty much look the same

and you can get by with onespots I only have a few pedals that don't get along well with other pedals on a one spot

so if you like voodoo labs, stay the course

the tech is pretty basic and I don't see anyone re-inventing it,
just different boxes

I would love to see some Solar panels or something but until that day, I think they are all about the same

i have a CIOKS Adam because the amp i use for my band is super finicky about line noise (and i think the power in my drummer's house, where we practice, is particularly janky). otherwise, i just use 9V wall warts & splitters.
basically: whatever works. i don't think it matters that much, as long it's not causing a bunch of (unwanted) noise.

Walrus was noisey for me. I bought one of the first pre-orders of the Phoenix and sent it back the next day.

BBE Supa Charger is the best bang for you buck if you just need basic power. Voodoo for everything else. I have 2 ISO5s and a Supa Charger under my board.

I would just keep what you got and add another one (the cheapest you can find used) when you need it, that's what I did.

I like how Cioks doesn't respond to emails...bitches

Anyway, I still think Voodoo Labs is king. Until someone comes out with something better at a better price point, I'll stay with them. Bitches be wanting to much money!

I bought 2 of these

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-SET-Caline-CP ... SwFnFWBJqh

for my PT Pro. I have 1 on each side. They work good and are super tiny compared to a "good power supply"

I'm a bedroom wanker, not a rockstar. Well I AM a rockstar in my bedroom

I use a BBE Supa Charger and a T-Rex mini thing.

All works great for me with little noise.

I heard the Joyo ones were too big to fit under most pedal boards though, except for the one they sell.

;)

Love the Cioks Schizophrenic that I have. Super flexible as far as 9/12/18 voltages and 4 out of 6 outs do 200 mA.

Those aren't truly isolated though. You'd need their JP-04 for actual fully isolated power like a voodoo labs power supply.
