So...My Laney AOR 100 was stolen, some bottom feeding low life asshole broke into the garage me and my buddies use to jam and just took it...

So since I was already having cash flow probs, and dont really need more than one or two good amps anyway, I thought it'd make sense to sacrifise the amp I like the least: My Vox AC15C2. It never really sounds 'in yer face', its like there's always a blanket over it or something. At least compaired to my Traynor YBA-1 :idk:

So what do you guys think about the Quad EL84 Statesman? Id get an extra couple bucks in the trade, plus the extra power doesnt hurt...:idk:
My main issue with Vox though, what makes it an okay amp for me instead of a great one: I don't like how it sounds with fuzz :idk:
So although the Statesman should have a little more headroom, there's one les speaker, and pretty much the same output section that's supposedly responsable for the way these amps handle fuzz...:idk:

Fuck, all gear thieves should be turning into mulch.

I haven't experience with the models you name, but I really think fuzz/dirt/pedal in general tolerance has way more to do with the front end/gain staging of the amplifier than it has to do with output section. Of course, output section is definitely going to come into play if you run it wide open... but, if the pre isn't pummelling the power in most instances it should play better with more abuse at the front end.

That said, 6BQ5/EL84 are known to produce some gain in addition to power, so they might be harder to rein in if you're looking for a clean pedal platform.
