Probably because Mike Matthews isn't in it, this is a rare watchable EHX demo.

Lot of cool sounds, anyone thinking of picking either of these up?

I thought the same thing. We have modular synths (and actual drum machines) for this. You could throw a few TipTop Audio drum modules, plus a simple clock and simple divider, into a simple case for not much more than putting these things on a pedaltrain...
I guess they're just trying to explore the possibilities, but it'd be crazy for someone to actually assemble something like this to generate beats.

there are certainly no wrong words here.
but from my perspective, I see non-modular modular or maybe modular for non modular minds?
With a hint of nostalgia (since they are based on older models) at least just enough to remind you that hex was doing weird stuff when weird stuff wasn't popular.....
Overall Something a guitarist/bassist/singer could use during a weird breakdown/interlude in a song.

I have a Crash Pad, got it last week. It's pretty fun, I prefer the lower kind of kick drum/pulse sounds you can get out of it, which they don't feature at all in that video. And expression control of the resonance is also fun. I've been triggering it with a Korg Monotribe, but I'm thinking about getting an 8-Step Program for more versatility, especially after that video. Running it into ring mod/dirt/delay also makes for some pretty interesting sounding stuff.
The Super Space Drum might be a little redundant, but I might check it out too.

Yeah, add me to the list of the confused. So many better options out there that are so much less hassle. I guess it's cool that this is possible, but...why?
Piezo drum triggers/pads
Shit ton of pedals, clock dividers, cv sequencers
Power supply
Patch cables
Limited sounds
Or...
A drum machine. Hell, buy an electronic drum kit and go nuts.

I guess it's for people who want nothing to do with that and would like some simple 'percussion' on their board. ???? IDK seems pretty silly to me

Honestly, I got a little excited when I saw the price...
When the market is saturated and people start flipping them, these are probably going to be in the $75 range used, maybe even cheaper....
For that money I'd pick up a couple.
Also, I don't think these have piezo trigger, I thought that white thing in the middle is a button....

You're right. I meant in the demo video--they're using piezo-triggered drum pads (at least I thought so--not gonna watch it again to make sure).
It is a button on the pedal. Which is also weird, because I'm pretty sure a soft-touch momentary switch would be a lot better for stomping than a tactile switch. Kinda limits these to tabletop use, which, again, means you'd be better off with any of a few hundred other products. If it were a drum 'pedal,' then put a legit stomp on it.
Anyway, at least they're doing weird stuff, even if it means that no one will buy it.

If all you need is adapter cables to use them as external modules with a euro system, that's not too bad, and I could see them catching on a bit in that market, like the Clockworks and 8 Step. They almost look like something to add to the external tabletop mess of a euro system, alongside a Mother 32, Roland FX, Dreadbox, Werkstatt etc...perfect for use with Yep, Pressure Points, Voltage Memory, Maths, Game System, Rene, Pithoprakta etc. for triggering, and Rosie's FX return for boosting. I can get up to four drum voices out of each of my Roland FX, and those have...fx, and modular jacks, so I don't really need these, but it is cool that the tabletop noise toys market seems to be in fine shape, and growing right along with eurorack, in the post-netflix IDOW fallout. I'm sure these sound great with more effects, but the little pedal modular system just looked a bit silly, considering, you know, eurorack. Showing a little use in that context would have gone a long way.

Right on. EHX is dipping its toes into euro, so maybe just go for it, dudes/dudettes.
