It's become my most coveted phaser. Since I already have so many others already, I'm in no rush for the Walrus. I think the Calavera will pair nicely with delays and modulation. As soon as Rogue or CME gets these in stock, I'm grabbing one.

I bought the Equilibrium last year, when I was just screwing around. I already had around 10 tremolos, so I never thought I would keep it, but it's become one of my most frequently used boxes. I think he does cool stuff---reasonably priced, user-friendly interface, and unique sounds for already crowded categories.

One of the most appealing dynamics of the Calavera is just how watery it is. Some phasers are dry or wispy, but personally I like wet, spacey textures.

That loco mode sounds nice and bubbly and being able to change the envelope direction in the dynamic one is great.

Heard it person I think at NAMM. All their stuff sounded pretty good in passing really (some booths had constant press and deep conversations...the Alexander booth was one). (It's kinda hard to get a good read on anything in their though with the ambient noise and slap and pop bass players showing off). I think it looks pretty cool.

I want to believe Alexander is a Grim Fandango fan, but it's probably a much broader cultural reference.

I am a huge Grim Fandango Fan. But yeah, it's more than that.

To all the folks who visited at NAMM, it was super loud down there in the basement :) We'll be doing some more demo vids very soon.

As someone who prefers spacey and experimental applications, this demo left a bit to be desired for me in terms of the styles chosen. I was intrigued by the end of the demo when he got into the loco mode. With all the pots set before 12:00, it still sounds pretty wild (4:43 in the video). I can't wait to pair this with my synths.

I received one on Saturday. As someone who uses 1970s string synths, it's brilliant. If you dime everything in Suave mode, while leaving the rate at 8:55 or below, you'll get a really hypnotic, slowly-evolving sweep. It's not necessarily as rich as the Quasar DLX or a Moog, but it does its own thing quite well. In the $150-200 range, you're not going to find a better phaser for otherworldly sounds.

If you really play around with all 4 pots in the Dynamica & Loco modes, you're going to uncover all kinds of bubbly, trem-phase types of sounds. You can do insane ray gun feedback, or up-tempo throb. I really haven't used it with many other pedals yet though. It definitely behaved differently behind an Equilibrium. The top end of the sweep was getting noticeably sharper when it was being fed a tremolo.

With only an hour two to go on, I paired it with 3 or 4 other delays and a few other modulation boxes. La Calavera is really intense and can easily devour a lot of other pedals, so I'll probably use it almost exclusively in small chains for cinematic experimentations. synth > La Calavera > delay (or) synth > phaser > Calavera > delay
