Their TRIO 28 seem like a good choice.

I've never tried them. I was thinking about getting one since everyone raves about them that has one.

Except I can't divorce my Velcro. I'm going back to pedaltrain.

I mean, they have their mounting plates with the replaceable adhesives. That's both something I like and the entirety of what's holding me back, trying to analyse the pros/cons of the mounting plates over plain velcro.

I flip gear with about as much frequency as a McDonald's cook flips burgers. But I am trying to slow down...maybe.

I was thinking of dealing with my pedal flipping by seeing if I can get Hammond box plates and just changing the lids with the plates themselves whenever I got a new pedal, but then that's more money.

I just want alternatives to the Pedaltrain game.

those do seem kind of cool, but not enough to draw me away from my pedaltrain. the price point seems about the same with a soft case and a lot higher with the flight case (although pelican cases are sweet). i love my PT and have never gotten why people seem down on them, but i'm a pretty simple man when it comes to my needs for a pedalboard and i don't change it around too often.

I like the metal board, but I think Pedaltrain has it almost perfected. ALMOST. There are pros and cons with them as well. I wouldn't want one of those because of the velcro thing too, but it may force you to commit longer if it's more of a pain in the ass to take off your board. That could be a big pro.

Yeah that just seems too complicated for me to want to deal with it--I've yet to find anything that works as functionally and generally low-fussily as Velcro. I don't really dig working around the gaps on Pedaltrains (I have a Blackbird I like a lot), but it makes perfect sense that they're the most popular board out there.

I've heard stories that the bigger boards tend to buckle when you go to stomp a pedal in the middle, then it will pop back into place. If they had more support or made the main metal area out of a thicker gauge than maybe it would help that problem.

I like the accessories they sell for their boards, lots of cool add ons but once you start buying them plus their mounting plates, it seems like shit can get pricey fast.

I spent all of last year looking for a different board. Pedaltrain was too mainstream for me. I'm back to the pt pro now. They're just the best if you're constantly changing stuff in my opinion. All the wood boards have too much fucking around with the special routing to get the cables nice and neat.

I would buy a PT Grande in a heartbeat to replace my custom board if I could find one that wasn't insanely priced. The custom boards all seem nice, but I'm not really keen on them after the experience I had. Plus who the fuck wants to spend that much on a board? It seems insane.

Boards are really fucking expensive.
