I know there's probably been a ton of DR jr -related threads in the past...But I felt like asking for myself

What sets the Disaster Transport Jr apart from the rest of the flock? I mean, everyone and his mother is selling 'analog voiced' delay peds, and an actuall BBD delay with a couple bells and whistles (ES-2, Memory Boy,...) can be had for a little over $100.

The DT Jr isn't stereo, there's no tap tempo or modulation, there's just your every day 600ish ms of delay time...

I'm still tempted to snag one and find out for myself, just because it's EQD, and I could get it pretty cheap

But a the same time I'm thinking it might make more sense to look for something less 'bare bones', like a supa puss or something. Or as far as faux analog delay goes, the Digitech obscura seems like pretty strong competition, with its extra modes and controls and the stereo i/o...

I lost count of the delay pedals I bought and sold in my day, this must be my 821th "which delay pedal" type of thread here at ilf

You're right. That's possibly one of the reasons they discontinued it. That being said, my full size DT will never leave so

The Ibanez ES-2 has a scary history of lemons. The one I played briefly was a lemon.

my favorite feature of the DTjr is the tone control. i could set it to get the exact sound that i wanted and i thought it sounded great. its one of my favorite delays that I've owned. I eventually sold it thinking that i needed something with more features, but i kind of wish that i held on to it.

Same experience as OddKnowledge, it just sounded really really nice in my setup. It's got nothing there that isn't essential and it sounds great.

One other guy I heard of who bought one brand new, received a completely dead pedal. Mine broke down after I used it briefly twice

And yeah, I haven't had the greatest experiences with the QC/reliability of ehx peds :s
The stuff I tried was prone to hiss and/or powering issues, I just trust the overal build quality of EQD a lot more tbh

I imagine if you're one of the lucky ones who gets a working one, or if you're super handy with a soldering iron, it's a great delay.

The tone control is one of the reasons I was looking at the Obscura, which also has a control to tweak the degradation.

Anyone care to describe the amount and behaviour of the degradation on his disaster transport? I'm looking for demos, but so far nothing out there was recorded with anything remotely similar to my amp/gtr. For all I know the peeps at EQD got it just right, so I won't need to spend anything extra on the Obscura with its extra control

The lack of a reverse mode and the stereo i/o are hardly a deal breaker for me.

also: Every mem-boy I have owned has had some qual issues, plus it's EHX so they won't help you...ever....at all

I had one and it just sounded GREAT. That's really all I have to contribute.

Mostly a Traynor YBA-1 and a Jazzmaster. And obviously: Lotsa fuzz
