Bass VI Conversion - String Problems

Hey everyone!
So I bought a 30" conversion neck and tried putting it on my jazzmaster.
It fits fine, but when I put on the strings I have, this happens:
The wind on the string tapers, and the taper starts BEFORE the nut instead of after it.
I guess the issue is probably that the tremolo is farther back from the bridge than a standard VI.
Is there anything I can do, any sets of strings that I can try?
Anyone here who's put a 30" conversion neck on a JM?

that shouldn't be a problem, it's like a reverse taperwound string, tapering before the nut instead of before the saddle. next time get your strings from kalium.

Kalium does make longer strings, I have them on my guitar and I like them, you could try them out if you want? I also have them on my one of my basses, if you wanted to hear some thicker strings.

What strings are you using? That happened to me with my Bass VI when I put a set of Ernie Ball strings on that I thought were for a Bass VI but were actually for a slightly shorter scale Ernie Ball guitar.

Back when I made a few bass VI instruments (with a 30.5" scale) I had some string sets made up by my string supplier (Curt Mangan).
I have a few sets leftover. If you give me the length between the nut and the tailpiece I'd be willing to measure the string to see if it would work for you.
They are of no use to me so if they'd work for you (or anyone for that matter) I'd gladly sell them cheap to get rid of them! ;-)
