I think I need a new looper

The requirements:

Play/Stop and Record/overdub switches, like on the Akai Headrush. I'm not a fan of having to hit the switch twice, then hold it down for two seconds, then dance around the pedalboard naked to erase the loop.

Smaller footprint than the Akai Headrush. I need to free up some pedalboard real estate.

No volume drop. Because fuck the volume drop.

Good sound quality. Because fuck bad sound quality.

Stereo ins and outs would be nice, but not essential. I don't need the ability to store loops, nor any other bells and whistles.

So, what's out there, what are my choices?

EHX 22500, a bit more involved but has 2 tracks and does some really cool stuff like non pitch-shifted timestrech.

Infinity, if you're committed to looping.

DL4 is always my answer.

But it's huge. Whoopsie.

+1 you can use the internal dip switches to change the switch operations. Rec/Play/Dub or Rec/Dub/Play

What's the difference between the two?

Rec/play/dub means one click records, second click plays back, then you have to click again to overdub.

Rec/dub/play means the second click starts the loop playing and also takes you straight into overdub mode which lets you immediately add to the loop where with the other mode you have to wait for a measure.

It depends on how you loop though. If your loop is a single simple backing track there's not much use but if you do a lot of layering its probably pretty useful.

Something I wish I had known about when I had my X2.

Interesting. If you fuck up, how do you erase the loop?

Montreal Assembly talked about releasing a looper next year. Might be worth it to wait for that?

You just press and hold the stop button for a second and it erases the loop.

The x2 has undo redo if you hold the loop button when the second switch is set to stop, iirc.
