Minor Threat

I just went back and listened to the Minor Threat discography a little while ago after not listening to them for awhile (which I shouldn't let happen haha), and found myself enjoying the second half more than the first. My brother wholeheartedly disagrees with me. Anyone else think the second half is stronger?
And also, I love Cashing In. Such a great song.

I felt that way this last year. I lost my vinyl copy of Out of Step a long while ago and hadn't listened to that one in ages. I remember leaning towards the self titled since I was a teenager but am digging out of step and the 7 inch with stumped, good guys, and salad days these days.

I think I was going to download out of step to my phone recently to listen in my car.

So is it hard, waking up one day, going to eat breakfast, and suddenly realizing that you've lost whatever taste you once had?

I mean lets be real; the vast majority, if not all, 80s hardcore is fucking terrible.

Seriously, I don't get why people like it at all.

Right well you're a club footed lummox who doesn't import any records I like*. So there.

But seriously the two EPs blow Out of Step + Good Guys out of the water I don't know why this is a question.

*not actually true

I bet you also think side 1 of the Vibrators Pure Mania is better than side 2. Admit it.

High five.

I want to like it, but most of it is borderline-unlistenable.

Die Kreuzen, Bad Brains, Minor Threat, *some* Black Flag and Discharge are fine. The rest is muck.

Husker Du became infinitely better when they became a pop band. Ditto Replacements. Descendents' best work was the pop stuff. Their fast HC stuff was weak.

Oh, I've never had taste. So no, it isn't hard.
And come on, they do not blow them out of the water. Just listen to Little Friend. Awesome. Is it better than Filler, Seeing Red, or Minor Threat? No. Is it better than Stand Up, or I Don't Wanna Hear It? Yes.

And I don't understand not liking any 80s hardcore. That's just crazy.

Out of Step was better than just about any other record that came out in 1983 though. While all the best bands were already fizzing out or turning into metal bands. Minor Threat laid the groundwork for post-hardcore and fastcore with those riffs.

I promise I'm not some sort of internet alias. I didn't realize this was such a decisive topic. I should have posted this in the unpopular album opinions thread.

We'll change the subject. I think Artificial Peace is an awesome band that never gets mentioned because of Marginal Man. But they are totally awesome.
