Maestro FZ-1S Clones?

Are any cool builders making clones/variants of this pedal? My band Weary Heads has been using one in the studio for some guitar overdubs and I've become obsessed with the sound. It is really good at making super ugly sounds, but with excellent string definition.
I checked out the Smitty clone and was very underwhelmed by the demo as it didn't really even come close to the way an OG one sounds.

I've been on a similar search
Have a terminal, demo tape clone, and bass micro synth now but that ripping fuzz still haunts me
The foxx tone is another I need to try
And the bee baa. The double beat is insane but the demo tape can get there.
Fuzz!!!

I have a Basic Audio FZ-1S clone and it sounds fantastic. Love it.
Not sure you'll be able to tell anything at all from my clips though

I think the differences in recording are mostly to blame there. I read a post that someone had both and said the smitty was spot on

I agree though, based in those two clips the smitty doesn't seem to have the same zing.

I was wondering if the recording was to blame. The smitty video sounds too browned out, the fz-1s I've been playing sounds like a vibrating wall of rusty knives...
It sounds really great with our Godflesh/Big Black inspired tracks. Mode 2 sounds insane for some kvlt tones too.

FZ-1S is such a great pedal
I've got a Smitty FZ-1a clone and its REAL close to my original FZ-1a, so I would imagine he does a good job voicing all of his pedals.
Also this exists

maybe its like 164$ plus shipping, maybe?

Tells me you need to buy a lamp. And that the lap steel sounds awesome.
Always wanted one of John's FZ-1S pedals but never got around to getting one. I think he only made a few.

They should have kept the original styling.
Someday I will get one. Was really disappointed with my FZ-1b...but I know there is variance in those (probably component drift and part differences based on what they had...I know that was the problem with fuzzrites and nu-fuzzes too). So maybe there is a little bit of that in there (meaning no two sound exactly alike and some sound way better).

Oh, I've got lamps. I just need to learn how to use them.

I just looked, on their website, it says for an additional 21 Euro you can still get it in that enclosure.
